COUNTRY WESTERN DIVA CALLS OUT SENATOR TED CRUZ

…Former Dixie Chick’s Lead Singer, Natalie Maines

She spoke out against George W. Bush on Iraq, and now she goes after Senator Cruz.

You may recall back in 2003 when “Dubya” and his VP, Dick Cheney, had convinced the nation with bogus evidence to make one of the worst decisions that any nation can make as we needlessly attacked Iraq.  The event eventually caused a total upset of the balance of power in the middle east as it made Iran the most powerful terrorist supporting nation in the region.  Of course, all of that does not mention the almost 5000 deaths of American military personnel and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens.

Then, with that attack on Iraq came the subsequent disgusting pictures from the Abu Graib military prison in Iraq and the stories of water-boarding and torture at the Guantanamo Prison in Cuba.  We then had al Qaeda spring up in Iraq, where they had not previously been, and we are now fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria.

All of this has occurred due to the Bush / Chaney decision to preemptively invade a sovereign nation.

Even with these bad decisions, there was one popular country western trio back then called the Dixie Chicks that had also started their World Tour in 2003.  This multi-Platinum Grammy winning group had a lead singer and guitarist by the name of Natalie Maines and she and the group totally disagreed with America going to war in Iraq.

As with many of us that disagreed with the war, Ms. Maines used the group’s “Bully Pulpit” of fame and the tour to use her first amendment rights to declare on stage that she was ashamed to be from the same state as the then-president George W. Bush.

Because of their declaration, Ms. Maine and the group were verbally and brutally attacked for their anti-war statement.  Their all-female group’s music was pulled from many country western stations, and they were continually attacked by the media.  The conservative talk-radio blow-hards such as Rush Limbaugh and their listeners continually lambasted the group.  It became so bad that all three members of the group received death threats for their use of their rights of freedom of speech.

Due to all these attacks, the group decided to stop touring altogether.

Years later, it was realized by the nation just how bad the decision was in going to war in Iraq.  After we learned that we had been lied to about the statements of Iraq having WMD’s and that America was not being threatened with a nuclear device coming from Iraq, the trio, and Ms, Maines in particular, were finally redeemed

Well, this week, the outspoken musician and activist Natalie Maines of the former Dixie Chicks has done it again.

This time, Ms. Maines, who is now a solo performer, has resorted to the Twitter feed as she sent out a Tweet speaking her mind against the Texas Senator, Ted Cruz.  Yes, the same junior Texas senator that’s currently running for the Republican presidential nomination.  Her Tweet was, “Just so you know....I'm ashamed that Ted Cruz is from America.”

But she didn't stop there.

Along with her statement, she Tweeted side-by-side pictures of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ted Cruz.  The Eisenhower picture was of when he was still the General in charge of the US Armed Forces after WWII.  She also added the following statement by General Eisenhower: “I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.”

Next to the Ted Cruz picture, she posted a statement that the senator has used in his many presidential stump speeches: “We will carpet bomb them into oblivion. I don’t know if sand can glow in the dark, but we’re going to find out.”

Interesting comment from a civilian that has never served in any military operation versus a statement from a man that had to order thousands of US troops to their possible deaths.

Ms. Maine is obviously still the anti-war activist who today continues to speak her mind and the truth, as she continues her solo singing career.

All I can say is I have a lot of respect for, and have total agreement with, this country western diva.
