JERRY FALWELL WAS BAD ENOUGH, BUT HIS SON IS A “CHIP-OFF-THE-OLD-BLOCK”

Per Falwell Jr. : “The public perception of Trump that has been created by the media is simply false.”

 

If you thought as I did that the late evangelist Jerry Falwell was a real “piece of work”, well, so is his son, Jerry Falwell Jr.  The Junior Falwell is today, the president of the private, Christian college, Liberty University, that was founded by his father.

 

According to this Falwell, there is a real choice in the 2016 election.  Per Junior Falwell, “Americans from all walks of life must unite behind Trump and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence or suffer dire consequences.”   Even well respected Republican strategists have called Jerry Falwell Jr. a bigot and someone that should not be listened to for recommendations for who should run this nation.

 

It is amazing how two people can look at the same individual, and see two totally different people.

 

For instance, there are those of us that think that Donald Trump is not a fit individual to be our US President.

 

But according to the Falwell family, they say that Hillary Clinton is the “equivalent of British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, and his deal with Hitler in 1938, when he declared ‘peace for our time’ “.   Of course, Falwell offers no examples of why Clinton is a Chamberlain equivalent....?

 

On the other hand, Mr. Falwell says his family see Donald Trump as another Ronald Reagan and as America’s “blue-collar billionaire”.  In an interview on CNN, Jerry Falwell, Jr. actually said that Hillary Clinton was not redeemable by Christ, but of course, “The Donald” was totally redeemable.  

 

The reality is that Ronald Reagan had two sons, one a liberal and one a conservative, both have agreed out loud that their father would never support a clown like Donald Trump. 

 

But the Falwell’s supported the Trump speech at the Republican National Convention because of “Trump’s love for ordinary Americans and his kindness, generosity and bold leadership qualities”. Yeah right.  Per Jerry Jr.: “My family has grown to love all of the Trumps because they are wonderful people willing to sacrifice much for their country. The public perception of Trump that has been created by the media is simply false.”

The media didn’t create any perception of Donald J. Trump.  He did and does all of that on his own.

 

Being an American that lived two terms under Ronald Reagan as a governor, at least when he went into the White House, he had 8 years in state government and he knew well how to deal with those in the opposite party.  Mr. Trump, as a reality TV celebrity has only had the experience of womanizer and a corporate dictator that headed a company that has been involved with over 3400 law suits.  And most of these law suits were for dealing with casino bankruptcies and his Trump Real Estate Industries being sued for non-payment of building contracts.

 

Mr. Falwell has stated that he is very upset with Republicans such as Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and he wants her to stop whining about Trump’s temperament.  The Maine Senator is just one of the Republicans in the US Congress that has decided NOT to support Mr. Trump as their nominee.

 

I had to laugh out loud when I read Mr. Falwell’s article in The Post where he actually had the guts to say, “We need a leader with qualities that resemble those of Winston Churchill, and I believe that leader is Donald Trump. As Churchill did, Trump possesses the resolve to put his country first and to never give up in a world that is increasingly hostile to our values.”

 

Yes sir, Junior really had the gall to compare Trump to one of the greatest leaders of the last century, the real Winston Churchill.  Now that takes real “chutzpah”!

 

Apparently, Mr. Falwell’s family also believes that: “If Clinton appoints the next few Supreme Court justices, not only will the Second Amendment right to bear arms be effectively lost, but also activist judges will rewrite our Constitution in ways that would make it unrecognizable to our founders.”

 

Hillary Clinton has said nothing about doing anything against the 2^nd Amendment or with the US Constitution.  All she has said is that she is in support of reasonable gun laws for background checks, closing gun-show loopholes and for getting rid of the super high-capacity ammo magazines.

 

The following is how Mr. Falwell Jr. finished his bizarre article in support of Donald Trump: “A vote for Donald Trump and Mike Pence is a vote for more freedom and less government, a vote for national security and responsible immigration policy, a vote to finally fight radical Islamic terrorism. It is a vote to rebuild America’s respect overseas and a vote for strict-constructionist and pro-life Supreme Court justices. Remember when Iran held American hostages for 444 days, only to release them the day Ronald Reagan took office? Expect those kinds of results under Donald Trump’s leadership.”

 

If this individual really believes this, which I have no reason to argue with his opinion, I feel sorry for all those attending his “institute of higher learning”…I have another descriptive name for Falwell’s “Institute”.!
