PERHAPS, JEB BUSH ISN”T THE PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL EVERYONE THOUGHT

…George W’s little brother, JEB!

Campaigning for being the American President isn’t for the faint of heart!

As Donald Trump continues his nomination quest via his campaign of insults, on-going lunacies and self-praise, my concern is seeing him still high in the polls as apparently we Americans aren’t asking if the nation has lost its way….?

It was bewildering to hear Jeb Bush over the weekend when he stated to a campaign audience that he was getting very upset with how the political contest was going.  He then basically said that he may just take his ball and go home.

Here is his long statement, word for word:

If this election is about how we’re going to fight to get nothing done, then I don’t want any part of it,” the candidate said. “. . . I’ve got a lot of really cool things that I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want that……..I don’t want any part of it? I’ve got a lot of really cool things I could do? Elect Trump if you want?”

As the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank wrote: “The self-described “joyful tortoise” [Jeb] may have just delivered the most petulant political speech since the future 37th president said “You won’t have Nixon to kick around anymore.”

I can understand Jeb’s frustration, especially with Trump’s approach of having made this political race into such an ugly affair.  But for Jeb to threaten to take his ball and head for home isn’t showing any of the Bush family’s normal political campaign stamina.  So far, Jeb’s attitude is sinking his bid for the nomination.

Of course, Trump immediately made hay out of Jeb’s lengthy comment as he stated that Jeb was “Going home to mommy and daddy”, when it was announced that Jeb and his dad and brother were meeting in Houston with Jeb’s donation supporters.

I don’t know if Jeb has it in his personality to do what is necessary for dealing with someone like “The Donald”.  That being, to combat Trump’s outrageous activity and race-baiting, Jeb needs to hit Trump back with as much force as Trump uses.

Jeb said early on that he wanted his campaign to be a “joyful experience”.  Sorry Jeb, but maybe you’ve been out of political campaigning too long, as that’s not the way it’s done today.  Or perhaps, it’s very different to run for the Governor of Florida, versus running for the most powerful office in the world.

Jeb needs to understand that Trump goes after all of the opposition like a dog on a bone.

Just look how far Trump goes in trying to make his opponents seem totally alien.  Remember when he portrayed President Obama as being foreign-born.  And he still goes after Hispanics and calls them rapists and drug smugglers while threatening to deport millions.

Trump's now going after Dr. Ben Carson’s religion, as Carson is now ahead of him in the polls.  Trump implies that Carson being a 7th Day Adventist is a member of an alien religion versus Trump’s Presbyterianism.

At a town meeting event in New Hampshire hosted by NBC’s “Today” show, Trump continued the attitude about his key opponents having very “low energy”.  Trump also told his audience that Bush and Carson are both “weak” and that Obama “doesn’t get along with anybody.”

Then Trump returned to his on-going negative comments about Washington’s politicians saying, “People are tired of stupid people running our country, and we have, believe me, stupid people, . . . It can’t always be the dummy United States led by people that are incompetent.”

But Jeb has to stop complaining about those like Trump and go after them head on.  That is if he really wants to become the man in the White House.

But more and more it’s looking like Jeb may just need to do “…a lot of really cool things that I could do other than sit around, being miserable”.  Right now, Jeb needs to understand that this is the way it is today and it isn’t going to get any better soon.

Personally, I’m wondering if brother Jeb has what it takes to run and win the GOP’s nomination for president.  Today, it’s not looking very good.
