HOPEFULLY, BOEHNER’S REPLACEMENT WILL BE AN IMPROVEMENT
…The soon to be gone (I hope!)
John Boehner
John Boehner’s foot continues to
find his mouth.
Even though John Boehner (R-OH) has said that he
will leave as Speaker of the House
after the Republicans dig up another patsy, he hasn’t stopped being a total
jerk. Instead of working with his party
to help with some real efforts for stopping the current mass shootings occurring all over
America, Boehner tried to make the gun issue the fault of the Democrats.
When asked
whether or not it was time for Congress to reconsider the research on gun
violence instituted by the Centers for
Disease Control, House Speaker John
Boehner turned it all back on the Democrats. “If
Democrats really cared about gun violence, they would have done something about
it when they were running Washington”, House Speaker Boehner exclaimed.
"We've seen far too many of these,"
Boehner said, before putting the blame on Democrats.
"In '09 and '10, we had Democrat majorities
in the House and Senate. We had a Democrat president. And this clearly was not
a priority for them. The president can rail all he wants," Boehner
said, referring to President Barack Obama's angry denunciation of Congress'
failure to address the issue.
So it’s all
the president’s fault for not going after an issue that is at the top of the GOP’s list to ignore whenever possible.
Let’s see,
wasn’t it in '09 and '10 when the
president and his administration were a bit busy picking up all the garbage
that had been left for us by the Bush Administration?
As I recall,
the president and the Democratic Congress were overwhelmed dealing with the
worst recession since the Great
Depression; and the saving of the US auto industry; and dealing with all
the mortgage foreclosures. And wasn’t
the US unemployment rate at 10% while we were losing 800,000 jobs per
month. Oh, and let’s not forget the
president trying to bring home all those American troops at war in Iraq and
Afghanistan.
Leave it to “Speaker Boner” to make a stupid remark
about the president over a background check issue that the Republicans wouldn’t
allow to come to a vote, even after all those innocent children were gunned
down at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.
"We've seen far too many of these, but it's
not my problem”, said Boehner.
John
Boehner is the highest ranking elected Republican in the country. When
specifically asked about background checks, "I'm not the expert on each of the individual policies, but I would like
to see us work together on finding effective ways to reduce these horrific
incidents."
But just to
make it clear, a Senate Democrat did try with the bipartisan Manchin-Toomey
bill, which would extend background checks to gun shows and Internet sales. But
the Republicans in the Senate killed the bill with a filibuster.
Let’s also not
forget all the bills Democrats introduced in the House that were shuffled off to committees, never to be heard from
again.
Therefore, Mr.
Speaker, spare us your sympathy for those innocents killed by those guns they
should not have been allowed to purchase.
Shame on you
for trying to shove all the blame on to others. You too, have some responsibility.
