ANOTHER EXAMPLE THAT AMERICA IS TOTALLY GUN CRAZY
…Hard to argue with this sign
The NRA has won the battle for now…..
An internet
story caught my eye that I just had to check it out. The title of the article was, "What's Wrong With America Shown In This One Tweet".
Boy, I then
found out just how correct was that come-on title.
First I have
to ask my readers, “Do you recall what
your first thought was after you heard
about the latest school massacre shooting in Roseburg, Oregon?”
For most Americans
it probably was something like, “Oh no.
not again!!!”, or “Oh my God, that’s horrible!!!”
But the focus
of the article that got to me was the actual Tweet that was sent by a Ms. Candi Kinney of the Roseburg Gun Shop. Ms. Kinney had excitedly Tweeted that she had “…just
ordered more assault rifles”. She
had also added that there was, “Always a rush
after a big shooting”.
No, I’m not
kidding, this was a real Tweet.
The article
went onto say that Ms. Kinney was, ”… downright giddy at the prospect of the surge in business that no doubt was coming
her way.”
The issue and
truth of the article is that after these shootings, those people running both the
federal and state legislatures tend to go after protecting the guns.
Yes, historically,
after virtually every mass shooting, the NRA
gun lobby fires up the troops to go after loosening gun restrictions even more.
Their approach is always their long time motto that: “To get a bad man with a gun, you need a good man with a gun.”
The obvious
answer from the gun lobby is that all Americans should go out and buy more guns
to protect their families.
Ergo, Ms.
Kinney immediately got her order in to the gun manufacturers so she would have
the necessary inventory for supplying the inceased demand.
So, instead of
having the first thought after the shooting of, “Oh my God, that’s horrible!!!”, Ms. Kinney is counting on a first
thought of, “Oh My God, I Better Get More
Guns!!!"
What’s so
bazaar about all this is that the gun laws will get opened-up, not more restrictions. That's because the lobbying
efforts are not for telling Americans
that they need to buy more guns to protect themselves from those responsible
for the mass shootings.
The NRA has learned that their lobbying
efforts work much better when they promote the idea that it’s the government
that’s going to tighten the laws to take away law abiding citizen’s guns. By taking this approach, it not only
encourages more gun sales, it also puts a force on the legislators to loosen the
laws for proving that the government isn’t going to take away the guns.
To prove this
point, President Obama, who talks very convincingly about asking for stricter gun
laws. But the only two gun laws that he
has approved, actually gave Americans more
gun access….?
Therefore,
there have been record annual gun sales in America every year since President
Obama took office.
Today, the
members of the NRA range from those easily-frightened
to downright paranoid nut-cases.
Therefore, when Wayne LaPierre, the NRA
Vice President and official spokesperson, tells them that this time Congress will order government agents to confiscate American’s
guns, they always believe him and then, buy more guns
This is the
reason that today’s US Congress can't muster a simple majority to require a
basic background check or even allow data to be gathered on US gun deaths.
The net result
of all this is that the craziest Americans will be allowed to get ever deadlier
weapons. In fact, today you can buy a bazooka or a flame thrower for
your personal arsenal if you desire. It’s
ridiculous.
The gun
manufacturers are making a fortune peddling their fear and their death by guns.
The ones who make their living off of these mass shooting tragedies have
already sold their souls, so it is no wonder they become so giddy about these mass
shooting events.
As of today,
the gun lobby has won the gun battle in America.
Their winning occurred
after the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook school. That was when the nation decided that a
kindergarten classroom filled with slaughtered children was a tolerable act and
collectively everyone decided to do nothing about it in going forward.
It isn't just the laws
that need to change in America, it's the nation’s gung-ho gun culture.
But banking on
that to change anytime soon is definitely not in the cards.
As previously stated,
