SCOTT WALKER ASSUMES THE “FLIP-FLOPPER” TROPHY FROM MITT ROMNEY!
…Mr. “Bait & Switch” himself,
Governor Scott Walker
Trying to confirm just where Scott
Walker stands is a full time job.
Virtually
every declared Republican 2016 candidate has given us their position on the
on-going Confederate Flag brouhaha in
South Carolina.
But Scott Walker, the Republican Wisconsin
Governor had been dodging the questions and avoiding giving his opinion.
Then came the weekend when the South
Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said she thought it was time to retire the flag
to the historical museum. Walker’s staff quickly reported that he had wanted the
flag to come down all along. But they said, Walker had thought he should let Governor Haley
say so first.....Right!
Did he ever
say that before, when he was asked multiple times? No,
that idea seems to have come out of nowhere as an afterthought.
Now, as has been reported, this
Wisconsin Governor has cut $300 million out of University of Wisconsin’s 2 year budget. And what's happening to that $300 million budget cut? Walker says he will use the budget money for a new state-of-the-art Milwaukee Bucs Stadium. Yes, Wisconsin's tax dollars hard at work.
Walkerdid all of this instead of approving a
short-term tax increase for covering the costs for urgent state bridge and road
repairs. Walker is now planning on borrowing
this needed money. This way, it lets him say that he didn’t have to raise taxes, even though there’s no
plan for how to pay back the state's borrowed money.
It’s Walker’s way of saying. “I’m running for president. I’ll just leave that little detail to the
next Governor of Wisconsin.”
Walker has
also been found to have told some little white-lies back in his 2014 re-election about his
position on abortion. But those lies are
now coming back to haunt him.
The
anti-abortion Republicans have resurrected an ad Walker ran last October, when
he was running way behind in the local women’s polls. In the ad he said abortion was an “agonizing” decision, insisting his goal
was to “increase safety and to provide
more information for a woman considering her options”. He then claimed that his legislative agenda “leaves the final decision to a woman and her
doctor.” Walker also refused during his re-election campaign to say whether
he supported the 20-week abortion ban.
After
out-of-state conservatives unearthed the abortion ad and began using it against
Walker, like magic he immediately became the staunch supporter of the 20-week
abortion ban, promising to sign the bill.
In fact, it has now come out that Walker himself asked legislators to
send him the abortion ban bill ASAP. In
addition, he asked to make sure that it contained no exceptions for rape or
incest.
Walker went even
further by making light of concerns about women who become pregnant during a
rape. “I think for most people who are
concerned about that, it’s in the initial months when they are most concerned
about it,” he told reporters, presumably speaking from his vast reservoir
of personal experience in counseling raped women.
Just more
proof that Walker has no clear values or scruples and will go whichever way the
political right-wing wind blows.
Even his own state
Republicans are upset with the governor.
Wisconsin Republicans are very upset with Walker’s plans to solve his
budget mess by carving that $300 million out of the university system’s budget. “The university doesn’t deserve this cut,”
GOP state Senator Luther Olsen complained. “We are fools if we go around bashing one of
the best things in the state of Wisconsin.”
Yes, Senator
Olsen is correct. The UofW has been rated as being one of the top five American
State University’s for decades. It would
be a shame to have these kind of cuts, as this kind of major financial cut
would mean they would loose some of the best university professors in the
country. Professors who could find an even better paying job anywhere in the US.
At this point,
Walker doesn’t give a damn about Wisconsin.
All he cares about are his latest poll ratings and debate results in the
up-coming Republican nomination debates.
Walker’s focus
right now is in his ability to raise campaign money, and his current status as
leader-of-the-pack in neighboring Iowa, the first caucus state.
But hopefully,
the news of his Wisconsin in-state troubles are crossing the border into Iowa
as they are located right next door.
Yes, something
has been going amiss in Walker’s campaign as he has had to push out his official
campaign announcement to July. He says
this was done for waiting until he has signed the Wisconsin state budget.
However,
there’s no budget deal currently on the table, mainly because of the dissent
among his own state’s Republicans. It’s likely to take until mid-July or later
for reaching any budget accord with his own states party.
For the last
few years, Walker has tried to sell himself as a leader who makes tough
choices. He recently tried to build up his image by writing about his rivals: “Some want you to think they fight, but
Senate speeches aren’t fighting or winning.”
But for
Walker, lying and reacting to the right-wing political weathervane isn't exactly
the best approach for being seen as your party’s potential election “winner”.
