DONALD TRUMP IS TOTALLY UNFIT TO BE THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT
…An appropriate caricature of “The
Donald”
If what we see today is what we
are to expect over a four year term, Trump will never last a year.
Anybody that
can look into the camera and into a press conference audience, and still
knowingly offer bare-faced lies, that person is unfit to be America’s
president.
And for Donald
J. Trump, that’s exactly what he does every day.
In his long
press conference this week, in the first 10 minutes, there were multiple
blatant lies, and here are just a couple of his “Whoppers”.
First, Trump
once again said that “His Electoral Win
was the largest win since Ronald Reagan.”
Here’s the
truth: While it is certainly true that
Donald Trump winning the presidential election was a historic achievement, his
margin of victory over Hillary Clinton is hardly so large as to be classified
as unprecedented or a landslide. In fact, when looking at all of the 25
elections that have taken place in the past 100 years, in 21 of them, the
winner won by a wider margin than Donald Trump did in 2016.
In terms of
the 21st century, Trump did not come close to scoring a bigger Electoral
College victory than Barack Obama. In
2008, Obama won 365 electors, and in 2012, he won 332. Just looking at the Republican candidates,
every other Republican president since 1916 – Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Eisenhower,
Nixon, Reagan and George H.W. Bush, won with more electoral votes than Trump
did.
Then, just 5
minutes later, Trump said that “The 9th
Circuit Court, the most liberal court of appeals, is the most overturned court
in the country.”
“WRONG !!!”
Here’s the
truth:
The 9th
Circuit Court’s reversal rate is higher than average, but it’s not the absolute
highest among the circuit courts. That distinction goes to the 6th Circuit,
which serves Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee, with an 87% average
between 2010-2015. The 9th Circuit is in third place.
6th Circuit –
87%
11th Circuit –
85%
9th Circuit –
79%
3rd Circuit –
78%
2nd Circuit
and Federal Circuit – 68%
8th Circuit –
67%
5th Circuit –
66%
7th Circuit –
48%
DC Circuit –
45%
1st Circuit
and 4th Circuit – 43%
10th Circuit –
42% It was also found that the 9th
Circuit never had the highest reversal rate in any individual term between
2004-15.
Of course,
Sean Hannity on Fox News, he and his co-host are the ones that Trump should be
blaming for “fake news”.
According to
Sean on a program on February 9th, he stated: "We have been predicting for days now the 9th
Circuit — the most liberal court of appeals, the most overturned court in the
country — it would act this way."
This was in reference to the several states that sued the Trump
administration, (and were successful), over its executive order that temporarily blocked immigration
and travel from seven countries in the Middle East and Africa.
Then Trump had
the gall to say that in winning the 2016 election, he had “inherited a mess”, both domestically and in foreign affairs.
Well, he
didn’t inherit a country as did Obama that was starting into a Great Recession, and a country
that was losing 700,000 jobs a month.
Since Obama became president, 15,000,000 jobs have been created. The unemployment rate today is at 4.7%, it
was at almost 10% when he took over.
It’s the longest period of continuous private job creation in
history. Any other president, other than
Donald J. Trump, would pray to inherit a “mess”
like Trump received.
I can agree
that the military, the vets and the issues in the middle east could be better,
but Obama also inherited two very expensive wars that he got the US out of in
the middle east.
Finally, in
the polls taken after the latest press conference, they were the lowest ever
for Trump and the lowest ever for a newly elected president. The polls showed that he is not considered
well informed, is not a good communicator and has only 39% job approval.
Then he gave
us another whopper that his administration is running like a “fine-tuned machine” and all of their
current problems are because of the dishonest media.
It might be
said that Trump was elected and thus and he has earned some benefit of the
doubt. Isn’t it a bit too much to declare him unfit after less than a month in
office?
The answer is
absolutely "no", because the Trump we are seeing is totally consistent with the
vindictive, self-involved and scattered individual we saw during his campaign.
In one of the primary debates, Jeb Bush had said of Trump: “He’s a chaos candidate and he’d be a chaos
president.” It was Trump himself
that has proven Jeb Bush so correct.
This is
exactly why nearly 11 million more Americans voted against Trump than for him.
His obligation as the newly elected president was to earn the trust of the 60%
of those Americans who told exit pollsters on Election Day that they viewed him
unfavorably. Instead, he has confirmed all of their fears, and more.
If this is
what we are expected to deal with for a four year term, Trump will never last a
year.
Once again,
just stay tuned.
