PROOF THAT TRUMP VOTERS ARE DETACHED FROM REALITY
…Rachael Maddow presenting the
results of the Public Policy Polling organization.
What Trump voters believe about
the world is different from what the rest of us believes.
OK, it’s time
to dissect just exactly what Donald Trump voters believe, and what is reality.
Apparently,
this was exactly the goal of the Public Policy Polling (PPP)
organization, which is a US polling firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Even
though the PPP was founded in 2001, it is well known for having very accurate
political polls. They usually poll at
least 1000 individuals for each poll.
So, based on
the PPP, here are some of the differences between the average American voter
and the Donald Trump voter. And the
reality of these polls seems crazy, but it does show that the Trump voters are
severely detached from political reality.
The following
was presented on the Rachael Maddow Shaw (RMS) on MSNBC.
OK, let’s
start with some basics like, presidential approval ratings:
President
Obama has a national approval rating of 50%+,
which is very high for a departing US president.
But according
to the PPP, the Republicans overall only have an approval rating of the
president at 9%, while those that
voted for Trump have an Obama approval of only 5%.
So, for the
next category, let's see how well informed are those that voted for Donald Trump?
I found this
one amazing!
The stock
market is today at an all-time-high.
When Obama took office, the stock market was at 7,949. Today, it is at a record 19,614. That’s more than double of what it was in
early 2009.
49% of Trump voters think that the market went down since Obama became
president.
So, continuing
on, just what do Trump voters believe about the nation’s unemployment level
under President Obama?
In reality, it
was at 7.8% in early 2009, and today
it has dropped to 4.6%.
But 67% of Trump voters said that US
unemployment has increased under President Obama.
But these
strange beliefs don’t stop here.
We are very
aware that Hillary Clinton has so far received 2.6 million more popular votes than Donald Trump. That is a record for someone to win the
popular vote, while losing the Electoral College votes.
However,
according to the PPP, 40% of Trump
voters today think that Donald Trump won the popular vote!
Here are some
other beliefs of the Donald Trump voters from the PPP poll:
>>> 60% believe that millions of votes for
Hillary were illegal votes. Not true.
>>> 73% incorrectly believe that the
billionaire George Soros paid cash for Clinton supporters to protest at Trump
rallies. Not true.
>>>
As a California voter, here’s one I really don’t understand. 29% of
Trump voters believe that all California votes should not be counted in the
nation’s popular vote count…..?
The following
was the statement made by Ms. Maddow after she presented the above PPP results
on her MSNBC program:
“I think it shows that even after the
election, what Trump voters believe about the world is distinctively different
from what the rest of the country believes.
And from what is true, this is an alternate reality that they are in, —
it is weird enough and specific enough that you can’t say it just springs
from broader misunderstandings or from a broader ignorance on issues that
afflicts the country. And this is a specific alternate reality that was created
by the Trump movement for a political purpose. It worked for that political
purpose.
And now as the Trump administration takes
shape, they have to know that they are in power thanks to their voter base that
has these false beliefs about the country. False beliefs about the country,
false beliefs about the economy, false beliefs about the outgoing president,
false beliefs about what California actually is. In terms of what happens next
in our country, it seems important to know this incoming president basically
created this fantasy life for his supporters.
One of the reasons Trump may want to keep the
rallies going is to ensure his base remains ill-informed. Given his agenda, he
will depend on that ignorance.”
I have a
serious problem in disagreeing with Ms. Maddow.
