WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A TRUMP / CLINTON RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE

…So these parties will be represented by Hillary & Trump

Which prominent Republicans might support the Democratic candidate?

So, what have we and Hillary, learned from watching Donald Trump’s campaign, now that it’s agreed that the 2016 candidates are presumed to be Trump vs Clinton.

First, we need to go back to something that was offered to us by the former President Bill Clinton.

President Clinton had said that the most important ability that a politician must have is a “poor memory”.

What Clinton meant was that after the campaign is over, one should forget what they had previously said negatively about their competitors.  In other words, “hold no grudges”.

This appears to be the one capability that Donald Trump definitely has, as he has called Ted Cuz “Lyin Ted”,  Marco Rubio, “Little Marco”, and Jeb Bush a, “Low Energy Stiff”.  I won’t go into what Trump has said about various women in politics such as Carly Fiorino and of course, calling Hillary “Lyin Hillary”, or “Crooked Hillary”.

Yet, after using all these names, what does Trump say, but that that all the GOP competitors he has been running against were “some of the smartest and finest people he’s ever met”.

This was Trump’s comment after calling his competitors the above terrible names, as well as calling Dr. Ben Carson “pathological”, and comparing Dr. Carson to a pedophile, and then going after Senator Lindsay Graham in a rambling diatribe where he called Graham a “lightweight and an idiot”.

This ability of Trump’s was all made very clear when after winning in Indiana, and after all the horrible accusations that Trump has made for months about Ted Cruz, and his wife and his father, Trump had the gall to say in his victory speech, “I don’t know if Cruz likes me or not, but he is a hell of a competitor and one smart guy”.  No grudges here.

What we can now expect from Trump is that he will continue to refer to Hillary as “unqualified”, as having poor judgment and to being, “Crooked Hillary”.  In one of his latest comments, Trump referred to everything that Hillary says as “she’s just another Washington politician”.  You can expect Trump to repeat this over and over in his future stump speeches.  Hillary will be tagged by Trump with the “Crooked” name, just as Senator Ted Cruz was with “Lyin Ted”.  And Trump will continue attempting to get under Bill Clinton’s skin about how he has mistreated women.

With most of the supporters for Trump being those Americans that are fed up with all “Washington politicians”, you can expect Trump to use that “just another politician” statement to counter anything that Hillary says, even her serious statements against his many ridiculous proposals.  Trump will just brush her off with this “just another politician” statement, as Ronald Reagan did in his debates with President Jimmy Carter and Reagan’s campaign against Walter Mondale.  This was done in the presidential debates when Reagan responded more than once with his, “There you go again,” comment.  That comment basically disarmed and took away the seriousness of any response from the candidates.

In fact, the debate moderators in those debates usually just went on to the next question after Reagan had responded with that comment.  It was like saying, “That question is not even worth making a comment”, so the moderators just moved on.  Don’t be surprised that if this occurs in the debates between Hillary and Trump.  Trump will just answer with statements that have nothing to do with the asked question, but Trump’s statements will always end with a blistering accusation against Hillary.  Count on it.

Trump’s “Crooked Hillary” and “just another politician” comment could define the campaign, from the Republican Convention to the November election.

The reality is that if the nations Republicans and some independents decide that Hillary really is “crooked” and she has bad judgment, you can bet that they will just hold their noses and vote for Donald Trump.

But another revelation that is coming out of this election is that due to the anti-Trump attitude of some Republicans, the following Republicans have not said they would support the Republican if it is Trump.  And all of them have been quoted in major publications saying positive things about Hillary Clinton.  These Republicans include:  the former Sec. of State, Condoleezza Rice, HSA Sec. Tom Ridge, former Texas Governor Rick Perry, Ohio Governor John Kasich, former Sec. of State Colin Powell, and it was recently announced that Jeb Bush will be awarding the “Liberty Medal” to Hillary Clinton in September.

In the privacy of the voting booth, will these and others still be able to pull that lever for the Republican candidate, Donald Trump?

Watch this space.
