WHO WOULD YOU VOTE FOR AS THE WORST US GOVERNOR?

…The “Politically Incorrect” Governor of Maine, Paul LePage

There was a real consensus about the bottom group of worst Republican governors.

OK Folks, due to the GOP’s focus on Congress and the 50 state’s legislatures over the last decade, they have been successful in taking over the House of Representatives and the US Senate and there are now 31 Republican governors and many Republican run state governments.

Congratulations to the Republican Party for their successes!

But based on what’s going on in today’s confused GOP, those successes could be short-lived wins.  Due to the mess that has become the 2016 Republican Party, it’s become more and more confusing as to just what the GOP stands for today?  Where are those moderate Republicans?

But let’s put all that aside for now and look at another issue.

With all those GOP Governors, The Daily Kos web organization had a contest on the web asking “Which is the worst Republican Governor?”

OK, I know, The Daily Kos is not known as being a supporting organization for the conservatives.  They are definitely a liberal leaning operation.

But on the other hand, you wouldn’t expect a conservative organization to have a contest asking, “Which GOP governor do you think is the worst?”  Nah, that ain’t going to happen.

Anyway, after all the votes were tallied and please remember, this voting was open to everyone, both conservatives and liberals, the final results were anything but surprising.  I think if I had been asked about the top four, or should I say the bottom four GOP governors, I probably would have picked those that were the final choices.

So after the voting was all over, it was very hard to narrow the final results down to just four governors, but here are the results.  And these descriptions about the governors are from The Daily Kos, not from me:

In position #4 from the bottom. — Maine Gov. Paul LePage.

This is a man who does not have enough qualifications to be the county dog catcher. Yet inexplicably, he’s the governor of Maine. This man is so petty that shortly after he took office he ordered murals representing working Maine men and women taken down, as they were too “pro-union.”

Now, if that was all he did he would not have made this bottom list. But Gov. LePage is the gift that just keeps on giving. He has no filter when talking about his opponents—think Donald Trump, but much, much worse.  In short, he is a bully, a racist and more sexist than Trump.

But no, we aren’t done with Gov. LePage: He used his political power to have a political opponent fired from a job at a charter school. This brief write-up only scratches the surface of Gov. LePage. He is an awful human being, on top of being a lousy governor.

In position #3 from the bottom. — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

A couple of years ago he would have been No. 1 on the bottom of this list. He gutted public unions in Wisconsin, made Wisconsin a right-to-work state, and slashed public education funding from kindergarten all the way through the university system. Along the way he has made it harder for people to vote and gerrymandered the state legislature. He is such a dishonest man that he cannot even tell the truth about his own bald spot.  He has also had a horrible record in creating Wisconsin jobs and in staying within the state budget.  He cut the UofW budget, while designating that extra tax money for a Sports Center for the Milwaukee Bucs.

In position #2 from the bottom. — Florida Gov. Rick Scott. There are a lot of reasons for Gov. Scott to be on this list. But There’s only one reason he is No. 2: Tenet Healthcare failed to live up to Florida quality standards for children's heart surgery. Instead of fixing the problem, like a responsible organization charged with the care of children, they donated $200,000 to Florida Republicans.

Less than two months later, the state of Florida got rid of the standards that Tenet Healthcare could not live up to. Standards that had been in place since 1977 and were the model for many other states. It takes a special kind of evil to harm children—and Gov. Scott continues to do just that.  Remember, this is the man that ran the health care company that had the largest ever fraud against Medicare.  There are many reasons that this governor is in the number 2 worst position.

And in the bottom position: — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder. Where to start with Gov. Snyder? He has done so much damage to Michigan. Emergency Managers, Right-to-work laws, or the myriad of other legislation that has passed on his watch which has damaged Michigan and he has done nothing for serving its people?

Of course the reason for his spot on the bottom of this list is the man-made water disaster in Flint. There will be a special place in hell for Gov. Snyder, whose actions are responsible for the toxic lead water pollution which resulted in the lead poisoning of the people of Flint, Michigan. We live in the richest country in the world—and in the quest to save a couple of bucks, Gov.  Snyder allowed his appointed emergency manager of Flint to make decisions that lead poisoned the very people the governor was elected to serve.

OK, so this is The Daily Kos election results for the worst governor's spots.

Now, which other governors do I think should be on this list?

I am personally surprised that Governor Sam Brownback with his disgusting Kansas lackey, Sec. of State, Kris Kobach were not on the list.  These two individuals have utterly destroyed the state of Kansas.   Because of Brownback’s experimental tax approaches, he has almost single-handedly bankrupt the state.  Sec. Kobach has installed the most drastic voter registration rules that guarantee that the Republicans will probably run the state for decades.

But this contest was a “for what it’s worth” exercise and to give the public an idea of how these governorships are looked at from a small slice of the voting web community.
