ONE OF THE MOST DISGUSTING DISPLAYS OF POLITICAL GOP GARBAGE
…A night for the Seven GOP Stooges
To call the South Carolina event a
“Debate” is a serious stretch of the truth.
I really went
to bed shaking my head after watching the most despicable and irresponsible
Republican “debate” I’ve ever
witnessed.
As has become
a normal position for the GOP, the
message from the event to all Americans was crystal clear: “Americans,
be afraid…..be very afraid!”
On that stage
in North Charleston, South Carolina, were a desperate group of wannabee
political leaders who were seeking voter support by appealing to fear and
prejudices, rather than offering rational arguments. I think that the correct description of the
group would be: “Seven demagogues that
spent 2 hours trying to out-do each other by painting false, dismal and
dangerous pictures of America.”
I was
obviously not the only one that felt that way, as Stephen Stromberg, a Washington
Post domestic policy editorial writer wrote in response to the debate's claims: “The nation faces many challenges, but it is stronger economically and
more secure from various foreign threats than nearly everywhere else in the
world. In many ways, Americans are better off now than they ever have been. The
continuing desire of non-Americans to move, work and do business here is a sign
of strength, showing the appeal of the United States rather than demonstrating
weakness.”
But you sure
wouldn’t have felt that way if you were a conservative that believed what any
of those individuals on that political stage were saying. The horrible and unsupported claims of the
night were amazing. Even if half of what was said was true, one must then
ask, “Why would anyone want to be
fighting to take over a nation that was in such disrepair?”
Just take a
look-see at some of the ridiculous statements of the night. Here is America according to the GOP candidates:
·
Marco Rubio: “Barack Obama does not believe that America
is a great global power. Barack Obama
believes that America is an arrogant global power that needs to be cut down to
size.” “The damage [Obama] has done
to America is extraordinary. Let me tell
you, if we don’t get this election right, there may be no turning back for
America.”
·
Jeb Bush: “The world has been torn asunder. In this administration, every weapon system
has been gutted,” (Really? Every one?) “Hillary Clinton would be a national
security disaster.” Based on what?”
·
Chris
Christie: “If you’re worried about the
world being on fire, you’re worried about how we’re going to use our military,
you’re worried about strengthening our military and you’re worried most of all
about keeping your homes and your families safe and secure, you cannot give
Hillary Clinton a third term of Barack Obama’s leadership.”
·
Dr. Ben
Carson: “The president has done
everything he can to diminish the military.
The Islamic State will be hitting the United States with electromagnetic
pulses, dirty bombs and cyber-attacks so devastating that the country would
cease to exist. If a progressive gets
in there and they get two or three Supreme Court picks, this nation is over as
we know it.”
·
Donald Trump:
“Our military is a disaster. Our
healthcare is a horror show…. We have no borders. Our vets are being treated
horribly. Illegal immigration is beyond belief. Our country is being run by
incompetent people. Migrants, could be
the great Trojan Horse. It could be people that are going to do great, great
destruction.”
·
Ted Cruz: “China is running over President Obama like
he is a child.”
For the most
part, the whole night was to see which Republican candidate could name call and
bad mouth the president and the anticipated Democratic nominee, Hillary
Clinton.
Was there any
positive proposals for solving any of the so called devastating issues that
this mob was presenting? I sure didn’t
hear any such offerings.
The only
somewhat positive comment was offered by one of the lower polling candidates,
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Bush
attempt to counter Trump’s asinine proposal for keeping all Muslims out of
America. Bush insisted that Trump was “unhinged” for insisting that no Muslim
should be allowed into the United States, arguing that the country needs to
build relationships with peaceful Muslims.
However,
beyond that proposal, all the comments for the rest of the night were more
attempts to out-do each other in talking down the liberals, the Democrats, the
president, Hillary and even a couple of slaps at Bernie Sanders.
Of course,
Trump hit the morning shows the next day claiming h that he was the obvious
winner of this so called “debate”. However, some publications have said that: “Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) “won” the latest
round of this increasingly disgusting show, with Donald Trump and Sen. Marco
Rubio (Fla.) coming in second.”
To call this
despicable spectacle a “debate” was bad enough. To state that one of the individuals on the
stage actually “won” is an insult to
all reasonable American intelligence.
If this type
of WWE event is what we are in for over the next nine months, God help us all.
