WHY I DO THIS BLOG THING!
…The invasion of Iraq...the big lie
that cost America so much.
After hearing all the lies from the Bush
administration, I decided how important it was for the public to hear the truth.
I recently had
a reader that has been following my articles for years ask me, “Why do you do this blogging thing? You don’t get paid for it and you spend a lot
of time with the research and all the writing….?”
After thinking
about it, I decided that it was a reasonable question and that others that
read my articles might be asking the same question, and that it deserved a
response.
So, the first
reason I started doing this is that I have always had a problem when I hear the
false statements from those that are supposed to be working for us, not working
for big business lobbyists or for pure right-wing political gain. These individuals were elected by us, not
assigned to represent us and they are supposed to tell us the truth.
When I come
across individuals such as US Representatives Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Rep. Michele
Bachmann (R-MN), Ex-Representative Allen West (R-FL), and right wing radio
talkers such as: Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, I then realize it is impossible to list all the untruths that escape from these and
other right-wing individual’s mouths day, after day, after day. But I can try to put an honest dent in the problem.
I was raised
to respect the truth, and these and others of their ilk, have absolutely no
respect for the truth. And I decided
that as a writer, at least I would use the internet and the blogging community
to broadcast the truth as I understand it, and to use real research to obtain
that truth.
Lately, one of
the best examples of this problem was the Speaker
of the House, John Boehner’s bogus claim that he is going to sue the
president for not enforcing the laws. The
suit may not be bogus, but bogus part is that the president is not breaking
the law.
Now Boehner
hasn’t said which laws he’s going to sue about, but it is obvious that what he
is talking about are all the recent Executive Orders from the president. In these cases, I agree with
the president when he stated that, “They
get mad at me for doing what they should be doing. I would like to work with them to do these
things and am willing to share the credit for getting them done. Why should they sue me for doing what they
were supposed to do?”
Of course,
Speaker Boehner never mentions the excessive number of Executive
Orders that were issued by both of the past Bush administrations, only
those from the Obama administration.
But we all
know that today, Boehner and his “Do-Nothing”
congress is currently receiving the lowest public approval rating…ever, at 7%, while the president approval is
setting at 42%. No, this president does not have a stellar
approval rating today. But it sure beats the heck out of that of the current US
Congress.
It’s the issue
of the congress not doing what we elected them to do that makes others like me furious, and
it drives me to research and write about it.
If my writing makes one person become interested in getting involved and to
check issues out for themselves, then my work is all worth it.
I get comments
on my articles regularly thanking me for printing the real truth, not the B.S.
that get spouted on Fox News, or from the mouths of the Sarah Palin’s, Sean
Hannity’s or the Mitch McConnell’s of the far right.
So far. the
right-wing conservatives have blocked every House
bill that would or could have helped the middle class. The Republican’s “trickle down” concept has been proven many times to not work, but
they continue to sell that failed concept to the general public.
If the minimum wage were increased, it would put
money in the hands of the people that will immediately put that money back into
the economy. But the righties always
vote against a wage increase. They say
it will lose jobs, when the major economists continue to state time after time
that it will increase jobs. It’s just
one more of their blatant lies.
But it was all
the lies from the far right and from Fox
News that reinforced my wanting to be someone that tells the truth.
Early on, I made
a big mistake by not properly researching one of my articles. A very astute reader of my blog immediately
responded pointing out my mistakes. This
made me personally commit myself to look for more than one source for any
questionable data that I might publish in any future articles. I also continue to encourage any reader to
let me know when I screw up. You sure
don’t get that kind of request from the right side of the isle or from
Fox. (I assume that is because they would
need a whole new TV channel and a complete staff to deal with refuting their
daily untruths.)
The other area
that I needed to deal with is my anger when reading or hearing mis-information
from those right-wing conservatives that don’t believe in science or that say
they support middle America’s rights.
But then they start taking away those same rights through their actions or the actions of
their large corporations or the big banks they support.
Yeah, they
want the clean water, clean air, and fewer pot-holes, but more regulations needed to
make those things right.......forget it.
As stated, I
was raised to understand and respect the real truth, not Fox's idea of the truth.
Obviously,
some of these individuals were raised by those with a very different point-of-view.
