GOP "TALKING POINT" BITES THE CONSERVATIVES WHERE IT HURTS
Sarah Palin uses GOP “Talking
Point” for launching another lame attempt at being a successful celeb.
Some time ago,
someone came up with the Republican “Talking
Point” about wanting to impeach President Obama for rightfully using his Executive Orders. This GOP
idea then went viral with all those on FOX
and with every Republican Congressperson that had a microphone stuck in their
face.
Well, it
finally has struck the GOP like a
lightning bolt that the last time they took this approach, before a mid-term
election back in 1998, they ended up losing the House and some very key senate seats. And this was something that virtually never
happens with the party that holds the White
House during a mid-term election.
However, the
American public back then had become very upset with the Republicans for such an
unwarranted impeachment of President Bill Clinton, just for his lying about his
sexual activities in the White House. The Republicans paid dearly for that
mistake. Most Americans had understood that
as embarrassing as all that was for a sitting president, the people did not
want their representatives wasting their tax payer’s hard earned dollars on
such a frivolous political issue. It
also became very clear that the impeachment by the Republicans was only for putting an asterisk
on the Democratic president’s legacy.
As popular as Bill Clinton and his wife have since become, we now know how well that effort worked for the Republicans.
As popular as Bill Clinton and his wife have since become, we now know how well that effort worked for the Republicans.
Just as it is
today with President Obama, since the GOP
has not been able to find any political scandals for going after the current
president, the Republican politicians have improperly decided to go after the
president’s use of his Executive
Orders. They are doing this for the
president doing what the “Do Nothing
Congress” should be doing in their own House. (But
President Obama is using his orders much less than both of the previous Bush
Presidents.)
Now that
they’ve realized that this was a bad decision to randomly and often make use of
the “i” word, they have made a 180° turn and they
are trying to blame the Democrats for starting all this noise about impeaching
President Obama. Even though there are
many examples over the past months showing and hearing various Republicans
mentioning the “i” word toward the president, (especially on all the Fox programs), not to mention on all the
right-wing radio talk shows, they are now together trying to blame all the “i”
discussion on the Dems.
House Speaker, John Boehner, even made the point during his weekly House GOP leadership press conference.
Boehner stated, “This whole talk
about impeachment is coming from the president's own staff and coming from
Democrats on Capitol Hill. Why? Because they're trying to rally their own
people to give money and show up in this year's elections.” Boehner went on to say, “We have no plans to impeach the president. We have no future plans.”
Now, what
Boehner is referring to about it coming from the president’s own staff is that
one of the president’s top advisers, Dan
Pfeiffer, just happened to say at a White
House press meeting, “The president,
acting on immigration reform, will certainly up the likelihood that
[Republicans] would contemplate impeachment at some point.” Mr. Pfeiffer is
a long-time adviser and has been at the Obama White House since its inception.
Due to this
one comment, and the Republicans recent “oops”
realization that it’s a bad idea, they are now trying to turn their screw-up
around to their advantage by blaming it all on the Democrats.
It is very
appropriate that any kind of impeachment talk always fires-up the bases of
both political parties. In fact, after
all this noise was started in earnest by the Republican’s impeachment “Talking Point”, the Dems were able to
raise over 2 million dollars in the first 72 hours in total support of the
president.
However, today
the Republicans are totally unable to sell this impeachment discussion as
being a Democratic “Talking Point”.
The reason for
this is that the ½ Alaska Governor, the GOP's 2008 Veep candidate, Sarah Palin, just can’t keep her mouth
shut in saying that the president should be impeached.
Now, as with
all the other calls for months about presidential impeachment from other
Republicans in Congress such as Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Steve Stockman
(R-Texas) Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), and even the former Florida Congressman,
Allen West, none of them, including Ms. Palin, have actually given any specific
examples as to, “for what the president
should be impeached”...?
In fact, the
right-wing radio host, Michael Medved,
rather than merely dismissing Sarah Palin’s notion about impeaching President
Obama, he decided to look at the potential numbers in the Congress for
impeachment. He then had Ms. Palin on
his show and he presented the numbers to her.
Even if the GOP gain control
of the Senate this year, Medved said, “To
remove Barack Obama from office . . . would take 12 Democrats minimum voting
with the Republicans to knock off a president of their own party, who also, by
the way, happens to be our first non-white president. Do you really believe
that that is even vaguely possible? And which Democrats would you be targeting
to try to persuade them to join a vote to remove the president?”
Per Ms. Palin,
"The many impeachable offenses of
Barack Obama can no longer be ignored. If after all this, he's not impeachable,
then no one is." Sarah then
claimed that “God wants President Obama
impeached.” She went on to
claim that yes, some Dems in the Senate would have some kind of religious
revelation and they would then vote against their own president for
impeachment. Again, this was stated with not one item
specifically listed as to why the president should be impeached.
I find it
interesting that with all this latest talk that is currently getting Ms. Palin
back in the news, it has I’m sure, nothing to do with the fact, and it must be
pure coincidence, that Ms. Sarah Palin just announced her new internet news network called, the Sarah Palin Channel.
So, now Palin has failed as a small town mayor, as a ½ governor, as a VP candidate and in being a host at FOX News, so why not give it a try, this time “on-line”.

As to how long
the conservatives have actually been calling for impeachment of the president,
it was last year when right-wing talk show host Glenn Beck, started it all off by saying on his show: "I personally am calling to impeach the
President of the United States."
Beck had at least listed his personal reason for calling for
impeachment. He had said that Obama's
assistance to Syrian rebels was "treason." But lately, since the GOP has decided this is bad timing and a bad idea, Beck has also
miraculously changed his tune and is now saying, “No, impeachment is not a good idea.”
Matt Drudge of the “Drudge Report”, who also runs one of the most visited
conservative sites on the internet, his latest turn-around lead story headline
was "Surrender: Boehner rules out
impeachment."
So, now both
parties will continue to use the “i” word for raising their political
donations.
Therefore, the GOP and Ms. Palin will continue to raise money by talking about impeaching President Obama, while the Democrats will raise more of their donations because the Republicans are continuing to talk about impeaching the first Black American president.

Ain’t American politics grand?
