“TAPING CONVERSATIONS” NOW REQUIRED IN THE TRUMP WHITE HOUSE
…This woman apparently has a
treasure trove of taped White House conversations.
It will be many years before
anyone will trust the statements coming from the White House
How would you
feel about working in an environment where so many false statements were made,
that you needed to tape every conversations with fellow workers just to protect
yourself?
The following
situation has been substantiated by more than one anonymous source in the Trump White House. That being that when Sarah Huckabee Sanders
meets with the president before her press meetings, she has White House lawyers present to figure out how to present some of
the president’s false statements. (Of course this is anonymous, as the leakers
want to keep their jobs.)
The Trump White House has lost so much
credibility that if you work there, you now need to secretly record your
conversations to confirm what was actually said, especially if you have any
need to talk to the media.
Because so
many in the White House, including the President of
the United States telling so many
falsehoods, the only way if you need to prove what was said, is if you have a
recording of the conversation. It’s a pretty sad
situation, and it will take many years to once again have any confidence in anything that comes out of the White
House.
As an example
of this issue, the fired White House
employee, Omarosa Manigault Newman, previously had zero credibility after her 17
years of working with Donald Trump. So,
when she decided that she was going to make some money by writing a book about
the real Donald Trump, she was smart enough to realize she had been part of all
the on-going lying coming out of the White
House. Therefore, she rightly
decided after the election, that the only way to get back any of her credibility, she would need
both written and recorded records and conversations
Therefore,
Omarosa started recording various White
House conversations, and she has also collected documents, such as the
non-disclosure agreements that she was asked to sign about not discussing
anything, after she was fired.
Now, don’t get
me wrong. I am not a big fan of
Omarosa. But she is a good example of
just how bad the environment is within our current president’s residence.
It's pretty bad
when you need the White House lawyers
to figure out how you should lie to the people about what’s going on in that big house owned by the American public……
I think it’s
ironic that Omarosa initially achieved her single-name fame as an on-going contestant on
Trump’s show “The Apprentice”. In that
reality TV program, she performed her villainy by using the same lying, cheating, and
backstabbing. She basically advanced her own interests by sabotaging her
rivals.
Trump
evidently found all of this admirable, because he agreed to bring her into
his administration as a top-level adviser despite her utter lack of experience
and qualifications. (Like everyone else
he picked.) They really did deserve
each other.
Even now, with
her tapes, it is still hard to take Omarosa’s word for anything that isn't backed up. But she
does have those tapes, and they do offer vivid proof that Donald Trump’s White House is part clown show, with a nest of
vipers.
It is no surprise
that she wrote a tell-all book after she was fired. It’s
shocking, however, that she managed to secretly record her dismissal that took
place in the White House Situation Room. This room is meant to be a super-secure
bunker where the nation’s most closely guarded secrets can safely be discussed.
Part of
Omarosa’s recording of that meeting was aired on NBC’s “Meet
the Press.” Kelly is heard making what sounds very
much like a real threat to Omarosa: “I think it’s important to understand that if
we make this a friendly departure, we can all be, you know, we can look at your
time here in the White House as a year of service to the nation. And then you
can go on without any type of difficulty in the future relative to your
reputation.”
Why does that
not sound shocking for what has apparently has become “status-quo” for what goes on regularly in the Trump White House?
But it doesn’t
stop there. As with others that have
left the White House, Omarosa also
received a very generous offer. She could receive $15,000 a month for
performing various duties for Trump’s reelection campaign. But she would have
to sign a nondisclosure and non-disparagement agreement pledging not to say
negative things about President Trump, Vice President Pence or their family
members.
Omarosa
declined the offer, but she kept those documents she was asked to sign and she
showed them to The Post last
week. Because she refused to sign the
documents and accept the $15,000 a month, the White House has refused to return the 5 boxes of her personal
effects from her White House office.
Omarosa has revealed a recording of a phone
call she received from Trump the day after she was fired. “Omarosa, what’s going on?” Trump is
heard to ask. “I just saw on the news
that you’re thinking about leaving. What happened?” When she tells him she was asked to
leave, Trump then claims ignorance. “Nobody
even told me about it,” he says. “You
know they run a big operation, but I didn’t know it. I didn’t know that.
Goddammit. I don’t love you leaving at all.”
I personally
agree with Omarosa that she believes that Trump told his Chief-of-Staff to fire
her, so Trump could keep his hands clean.
So yes, I believe that Trump once again lied about not knowing about the
firing of Omarosa. (I doubt that anything goes on in the White House that Trump doesn't know about.)
But Omarosa actually claims
to have realized only recently that Trump is a “racist, misogynist and bigot.” Yet this same woman has heard
Trump’s attacks against Latino immigrants, and she still went to work for
his campaign. She was aware that after the Central
Park Five, young black and Latino men years ago, due to DNA evidence, were
all found innocent of attacking a white woman.
But Trump still wanted them imprisoned. Omarosa had heard his Access
Hollywood rant about how he sexually assaulted women, and she
still took a job in his administration. She also heard his many appeals to
white racial grievance and still vigorously defended him, even after the
Charlottesville debacle.
Therefore, I’m
not inclined to believe anything she claims without documentary evidence to
back it up. But her tapes and the documents have not been disputed.
Omarosa may
not have obtained them honorably, but the old saying is true: “There is no honor among thieves.”
The White House is now trying to go after
Omarosa through legal efforts for keeping the many other tapes she says she has from
being released. Because they were
recorded in the White House, they
will probably use “National Security”
excuse as the issue. But the tapes could
then be reviewed by a NSA, FBI or a Pentagon official to see if any conversations were in violation of any national security issues.
However, with this
administration, we don’t know yet what else
might be in those conversations with Trump that his lawyer Michael
Cohen taped. In addition, we don’t know how many other recordings Omarosa might have
made. And we definitely don’t know who else in the White House might have been keeping their own unauthorized tapes or records
of conversations and events.
But we do now know why the people in Trump’s world feel they need such insurance
coverage: Dishonor, disloyalty, all the liars, and the den of thieves, is at the
top of the pile.
