HUGH HEWITT IS SMOKING SOME STRANGE STUFF

…The conservative radio talk host, Hugh Hewitt

Per Hewitt: Voters: Hold your nose, and still vote Republican

The conservative radio host and author, Hugh Hewitt, recently wrote in an op-ed for the Washington Post: “Even if you loathe the president, vote Republican. The downside of Democratic majorities in either house of Congress is so much larger than another two years like the last two. Both 2017 and 2018 have been polarizing and stressful for sure, but very productive for national security and economic vitality. Are most voters going to choose venting over their pocketbooks and their security? I hope not.”

So, this man is saying that he wants to keep the same Republicans that don’t have the balls to go after their rogue president, who is profiting in the billions from being the US president.  A president that has no understanding how the government works and who continuingly lies to the American people.

Hewitt says the economy is doing well and its better for national security, so keep the Republicans in power.  (Please note: The economy has been steadily improving since the 2nd year of Obama’s first term.)

And, if you remember, it was under George W. Bush and the GOP that the economy was doing well because of their reduced regulations on the banks back in the early 2001 to 2004.  (Does massive deregulation sound familiar today?)

Then, due to that deregulation,  we headed into the worst recession since the Great Depression and it took a Democratic president and Congress to get us out of the hole.  It has taken the last 8 years for American's 401K's to recover.

As to security, the president still doesn’t even believe his own 17 security agency’s personnel that Russia interfered in the 2016 election and he is doing nothing to make the 2018 or 2020 elections more secure.

I do agree that the military needed rebuilding, but having a do nothing congress and president that has done nothing to deal with our diminishing infrastructure is not acceptable.

Then Hewitt has the gall to say that the president has given us “a great cabinet”.

Are you kidding me?  How many have already had to resign due to ethics issues, and how about those in the cabinet that are not qualified for their jobs like the current Secretary of Homeland Security?

How many positions in the state department are still open because this administration really doesn’t believe in using diplomacy for dealing with foreign affairs?

Hewitt says that to “Elect Democrats to a majority in the House or the Senate would be a disaster”.  He says this because, “…the Dems are talking about Impeachment, income tax hikes, and abolishing ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement)”.  Well, I’ve heard nothing about tax hikes and it was ICE that was separating the children from their parents at the border.  ICE did not keep good records as to where the kids were sent or if their parents were deported?  Now it will cost the US taxpayers millions for using DNA tests for proving which kid belongs to which parents, if either are eventually located.

Hewitt also says that if Nancy Pelosi were to return to power in the House,  it would be a parallel to the Watergate and Clinton impeachment scandal eras.

So, he must think that what is going on with Trump getting friendly with all the authoritarian countries, while he talks down too many of America’s closest allies, that’s perfectly okay.

Yes, Hewitt is saying all of this, even though he did also write: “The president’s brand of political hardball upsets many in the GOP, even unbalancing more than a few.  But “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is real.”  He also says: “They [the Dems] will blame Trump……and he deserves a lot of the blame (or credit, depending on your point of view). Trump intentionally incites his opponents with mockery and disdain.”

But then he states: “So did Barack Obama. So did all of the legions of George W. Bush opponents when politics began going off the rails.”

I don’t recall that Obama or Dubya Bush ever continuously lied to Americans as does Donald Trump on a daily basis.  I also don’t remember any former US president inciting their opponents the way President Trump goes after anyone, regardless of their party affiliation, calling them derogatory names such as “Crooked Hillary”, “Little Marco”, or “Low-Energy Jeb”.

Hugh Hewitt has been on a number of political programs that bring us the “real news” that Trump would of course call “fake news”.  On those “real news” networks, Hewitt is always criticizing much of what President Trump does on virtually every appearance.

So, I was really surprised when I read his column.  Especially when the focus at the end was to tell all the voters in America that: “You may want to hold your nose, but you had best vote Republican for the mid-terms.”

I don’t know what Hewitt is smoking, but I think he’d better give it up before he becomes part of Trump’s and Fox News base nationalist audience.
