WILL TRUMP EVER ADMIT THAT HE LOST THE POPULAR VOTE WITH MILLIONS OF LEGAL VOTES?
…Many are wonder how long Sean
Spicer will last as Trump press mouth-piece
The New US Commander-in-Chief
believes in torture, that millions of illegals voted for Hillary and probably
in the tooth fairy.
I just have to
continue shaking my head every time I hear Donald Trump continuing to litigate
his own election with his comment that he lost the popular vote because of
millions of illegal votes. In every
study that he and his team have referenced as proof of this statement, they
have all been debunked over and over again.
In one of the bogus studies that they continue to reference, “the Pew 2008 study that said 14% of people
who had voted were not citizens” this study has been debunked on five
separate occasions by professional Fact Checkers. But
Donald Trump just can’t digest the idea that even though he won the Electoral
College, ”how could 3 million voters not
want me, the wonderful Donald J. Trump?”
What is so sad
about this is the Trump team doesn’t seem to care, that by sticking to this
bogus and de-bunked study, they don’t realize the harm they are
doing to the American voters confidence in America’s small “d” democratic process.
Trump’s Press
Secretary, Sean Spicer, even brought this up on the second day of work in the
White House when he was asked why the new president still keeps referencing his
bogus statement of losing because of millions of illegal voters. When asked, Spicer just again answered with,
“The president has believed this for a long time. I think there have been studies; there
was one that came out of Pew in 2008 that showed 14% of people who have
voted were not citizens. There are other studies that were presented to him.”
Spicer
continues to cite repeatedly debunked research to support Trump’s claim that
millions of people voted illegally during the 2016 presidential
election. These studies do not support Trump’s Four-Pinocchio claims
of “millions” of people voting illegally. (Kind of like his bogus and debunked claim that he saw thousands of Muslims in New Jersey cheering as the Twin Towers fell.)
Spicer told
all the reporters in the press room that, “Trump
still believes there was widespread voter fraud, based on studies that
were presented to him.” Then Spicer cited the same Pew study that does not
support that claim. ...? And moreover, Spicer
then conflated that Pew study with another study that also does not support this
claim.
The 2012 Pew
Center on the States Study found problems with inaccurate voter
registrations, people who registered in more than one state (which could happen if the voter moves and
registers in the new state without telling the former state) and those
deceased voters whose information was still on the voter rolls. Even with all this, there is no evidence that massive numbers of voters are voting in two registered locations, nor are massive numbers voting in place of dead voters.
In fact, the
primary author of that same Pew report tweeted in response to Trump’s staff’s
claim that:“ I can confirm that Pew report
made no findings regarding voter fraud.”
But Trump and company just don’t want to admit that 3 million voters
legally voted against Donald J. Trump.
In the 2008
study that Spicer continues to reference, the one that says “14% of people who have voted were not
citizens,” this is the research by the Old
Dominion University professors, using data from 2008 and 2010. But the researchers continued to warn us that
“it is impossible to tell for certain
whether the noncitizens who responded to the survey represented the
broader population of noncitizens.”
One of the
researchers, Mr. Jesse Richman, wrote about the Trump staff’s use of his
research. The results “suggest that
almost all elections in the US are not determined by noncitizen participation,
with occasional and very rare potential exceptions,” he wrote.
Despite Trump’s
repeated claims, his attorneys stated there was no evidence of voter fraud in
the 2016 election. In a court filing opposing Green Party candidate
Jill Stein’s recount petition, the lawyers for Trump and his campaign had written: “All available evidence suggests that the
2016 general election was not tainted by fraud or mistake.”
When this
bogus claim was debunked on Nov. 29, 2016, the Fact Checkers and the Pew Research
Team implored Trump’s staff members to please drop this talking point. They implored this as they are very tired of
telling them over and over again it is a false claim.
But the new president
just can’t stand the idea that he lost the popular vote by more votes than
anyone…..ever.
