TRUMP CONTINUES TO SHOW THAT HE IS A “NO-CLASS ACT”
…The outstanding actress, Meryl
Streep
Trump’s latest no-class act was
the worst one yet.
It was bad
enough that Trump is so thin-skinned that he had to Tweet a snide remark about
Alec Baldwin’s impression of him on “Saturday Night Live,” calling it “not funny” and saying that SNL “just can’t get any worse.” And of course he was dead wrong, Baldwin is
doing a good job of being a very pompous Trump.
He reacted the
same to a truthful yet unflattering piece in Vanity Fair by saying
that the magazine is “way down, big
trouble, dead!” and that its editor has “no talent.” Yes, he went
after one of the premier publications like VF, and he just had to grab his
phone and let the insult tweets fly.
It was another
no-class act, when he went after his replacement on “The Celebrity Apprentice” with
a scathing tweet. Trump was replaced by
the former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Arnold’s first show
had some low Nielsen numbers “by
comparison to those of Mr. Donald J. Trump”, and of course he had to also
tweet that Schwarzenegger had not supported his campaign.
(I would suspect that after all the publicity
on Trump’s tweet about Schwarzenegger, now more viewers will want to tune in to
see how Arnold does in Donald’s place.)
But his
latest no-class act was the worst one yet.
On the Golden Globes Award Show, Meryl Streep
was receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award
for her lifetime acting achievements.
Streep is probably the most renowned Hollywood actress of all time. She has been nominated for an academy award
19 times, much more than any other actress or actor. She has played every possible type of
character from a psycho to a housewife to a fashion designer and even a major
lead in a well known musical.
Streep began
her award acceptance speech by apologizing for having lost her voice. She could
only speak softly, but her words took a major swipe at Trump’s fragile ego and
she didn’t even call him out by name.
But it was obvious to whom she was referring.
Here are the
basics of what she said:
“There was one performance this year that
stunned me,” she said. “It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good.
. . . There was nothing good about it. But it was effective, and it did its
job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth. It was that
moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country
imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the
capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it. And I still
can’t get it out of my head because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life. This
instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by
someone powerful,” Streep said, “it
filters down into everybody’s life, because it kind of gives permission for
other people to do the same thing.”
The incident
to which she referred took place at a Trump rally in 2015 , when the candidate
Trump mocked the New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski. Kovaleski has a medical condition that limits
the motion of his arms. While denouncing Kovaleski, Trump disgustingly gestured
similarly, mocking the way the reporter moves.
Of course,
Trump the next morning after the award show had to grab his phone and tweet the
following: “Meryl Streep,
one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked
last night at the Golden Globes. She is a Hillary flunky who lost big.” he posted this just after 6 AM, then inserting a hyphen into the word, "over-rated."
This is all so
telling of this no-class, two-bit, reality show habitual liar.
Just look at
the important items that this thin-skinned individual will soon have to deal
with:
>>>
Trump is threatening to snatch health insurance coverage from millions of
Americans.
>>>
He intends to give huge tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy.
>>>
He says he plans to reverse progress against climate change.
>>>
He has said he wants to destabilize the Western alliance and possibly remove
the US from NATO.
>>>
He wants to pick a fight with China while cuddling up to Russia & Putin.
For someone that
acts as does this individual, and with the important items on his agenda, don’t
you think it would be foolish not to
examine the personality and the psychological makeup of the man who will soon
be in the White House?
These Twitter Rants of his offer a glimpse
into Trump’s psyche, and it is certainly not pretty.
And the reason
I am calling for examining this individual’s psychological makeup, Mr. Trump
also shows nothing but high regard for anyone who says anything nice about
him. As an example, he calls our so
called enemy, Russian President Vladimir Putin, “very smart” and Trump quotes him approvingly. This is despite the fact that all the US intelligence
officials have stated that Russia actively meddled in the US electoral process.
No, Streep
won’t be the last to comment on Trump’s performance, but as usual, on her
comments, he must have stewed about it all night.
What is so
interesting is that at last year’s Golden
Globes Awards, Donald Trump was seen in attendance and at the time, he remarked how
much he like the acting of both Julia Roberts and especially Meryl Streep. In addition, he was seen and photographed
talking and joking with Alec Baldwin.
And just for the record, he was at one time on an amicable first name
basis with the New York Times reporter he mocked, Serge Kovaleski.
It is
frightening for me to think that someone so thin-skinned as Donald Trump can go
off half-cocked just because someone states they dislike him or his policies. What is he going to do if and when a leader
of another nation or operation such as ISIS, Iran or North Korea goes after him with
scathing accusations? This man will have
the strongest military in the world at his beck and call. When anyone criticizes Donald J. Trump publicly
in a way that threatens his ego, he is compelled to always hit back even harder.
He just can’t seem to ignore any kind of personal slight.
As it was with
all those bullies on the playground, to react like this is a serious weakness,
it is not a strength. And Russia’s Putin
and other world leaders have obviously figured out.
God help us
all.
