A ONCE REASONABLE CONSERVATIVE WRITER SUCCUMBS TO THE HAWKS
…The “Right Turn” Blog writer,
Jennifer Rubin
Once again, instead of offering
solutions, only criticism from the right of those that do have ideas.
**Please
note: In my future articles I will try to remember to only refer to
ISIL or ISIS as “DAESH”. Daesh
is an Arabic word in its own right that
means “a group of bigots who
impose their will on others”. It can
also mean “to trample and crush”. The
term “Islamic State” was chosen by
the terrorists to legitimize their operation as an actual caliphate or the
beginning of a new Muslim empire. By
using the word DAESH, this takes away
the legitimacy of the organization as being a real “state”, and the terrorists hate the term. In fact, the head of ISIL threatened “to cut the tongue out of anyone who publicly
used the acronym Daesh”. Instead,
they must refer to the group by its full name: ”the Islamic State”. Going
forward, “Daesh” is my new word for extreme Islamic terrorists.
Now, moving
right along, some weeks ago I wrote that I had read a number of the
articles from the conservative Post
writer Jennifer Rubin, who also
writes the “Right Turn” Blog for the Post. I had complemented Ms. Rubin saying that she
seemed to be a more reasonable conservative as compared to some of the GOP clowns or Republican hot-heads that
only know how to spout their Republican talking points.
Well, I am now
removing any positive accolades I may have said about Ms. Rubin's offerings.
In her recent
article criticizing Hillary Clinton’s recent speech on National Security, Ms.
Rubin sounded like those conservative hawks that only know how to start foreign
wars, instead of how to finish them.
Ms. Rubin goes
on and on in her article saying that “Clinton
supported and effectuated the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq, giving
fertile ground from which the Islamic State sprouted.”
Of course, there was no mention that Obama
was first elected because the American public wanted America out of the longest
US wars ever, and wars that we should never have started.
She talks conveniently forgetting that the original withdrawal dates of our troops from
Iraq were not from Obama. The time-line
of the actual withdrawal was first presented by George W. Bush.
Clinton
offered three main elements of her strategy for dealing with Daesh**, and Rubin called Clinton’s
proposals as “goals not strategies”. But if Rubin would have listened a bit longer
and closer, she would have heard some of both the tactics and the strategies
behind her three elements of dealing with the terrorists. Of course, none of the many Republican candidates,
besides Senator Lindsay Graham, have given any specifics for how they would handle
Daesh. That is, unless you count
Donald Trump’s loud claim the he would “Bomb
the crap out of them!”
Rubin blames
the terrorists in Iraq on the premature US troop withdrawal. However, she neglects
the truth that the original Daesh leaders actually came from the
suddenly-unemployed members of Saddam’s Baath Party after W’s people kicked
them out and took all of their weapons.
Even after
WWII, the key administrative Nazi personnel in Germany, that were not part of
Hitler’s direct staff, were kept on their jobs just for to getting everyone in
Germany back to work.
But no,no, no,
not Dubya’s men. They fired everyone and
took away their weapons. Then, they
installed a Shia as the Iraqi Prime Minister, and the PM Malaki would not
include any former Sunni personnel in the government or the military.
No wonder the Sunni’s went off and started
their own army against the new Iraqi government.
Rubin goes
after Clinton for wanting to develop a Coalition
of Nations to go after Daesh, while as with so many Republican hawks, she
once again wants more American “boots-on-the-ground” As with “The
Donald”, Rubin also wants to just “Bomb
the crap” out of them, as if we weren’t already doing that, especially
since both Russia and France are now “Bombing
the crap” out of them.
She says
Clinton, “supports the Iran deal which is
a boost to Iran and surrogates like Assad to whom some of the $150B in released
Nuclear Sanctions money will flow.”
She neglects the fact that none of that sanction money will be released
until the United Nation’s Atomic Energy
Committee has confirmed that the
Iranians are doing what they said they would do for deactivating their nuclear
bomb enrichment efforts.
Jennifer Rubin
has unfortunately become pretty much what those reporters at Fox News have become. It’s really pretty pathetic.
