THE CPAC CONFERENCE, AKA: “CLOWN ALLEY - 2014”

“Saturday Night Live” could do a whole show, using just the material from the CPAC conference.

Well, the circus came and went last week in Washington DC.

Yes, it was again time for the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC for short.

And to prove the “circus” point, for the 2nd time, the ½ Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin, was again the key-note speaker.

Now, how else can you better prove that your conference truly is a circus, than by having a ridiculous key-note speaker, such as Sarah Palin, not one time, but twice…in a row.

Last year, Ms. Palin did her speech “shtick” with a giant, oversize Big Gulp drink.  This year she did her Ted Cruz impression by offering her mangled version of, “Green Eggs & Ham”.  I was surprised she didn’t end her childish presentation with the dropping of balloons and a pie in the face.

So, where are Kermit and the Muppets when you need them.

As for the other presentations, as one writer put it, “The whole show was offering up the usual servings of Kool-Aid and Red Meat.”

The program started going down-hill quickly as on the first day, Texas Senator, Ted Cruz decided to claim that the previous losing GOP presidential candidates Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney, they all lost their elections because they didn’t have, or stand for, “principles”.  Later, Senator McCain said he wanted Cruz to apologize to the elder and ailing former senator Dole.  The Arizona senator said that Mr. Dole, definitely had “principles” when he was almost killed and injured for life, while fighting for his country in Italy in WWII. For once, I have to agree with the senator from Arizona.

The other part of the circus was when they did the annual CPAC straw poll vote.

Now, in many cases, such as when presidential candidates win events such as the Iowa Caucus, which sometimes presents us with real presidential candidates.  But that’s not the case with the CPAC Straw Poll.  As an example, the political “Paul” family that consists of the now retired, long-time Texas US Representative, Ron Paul, and his son, the Junior Kentucky Senator, Rand Paul.  Between these two “Pauls” they have together won 4 of the last 5, CPAC Straw Polls.

Now, Rand Paul was the winner again this year, but this time he appears to be a serious potential Republican candidate for 2016.  However, based on his speech at CPAC, he was saying that regarding the current issues in the Ukraine, the US should, "begin drilling in every possible conceivable place"  for natural gas, so we could then ship it to Europe & the Ukraine.

So, Paul's Idea is to have the US replace Russia as the major supplier of natural gas to the Ukraine.

Senator Paul wants the US to drill everywhere, take the gas, process it into liquid natural gas, put it in ships and send it across the Atlantic and deliver it to the Ukraine.  All this highly expensive process would be for replacing the natural gas in the pipelines currently running from Russia into the Ukraine.

So, just how much does the senator from Kentucky think that the people in the Ukraine would pay for this very expensive natural gas from the US?

Another presidential hopeful. Wisconsin’s House Budget Chairman, Mr. Paul “Budget Doesn’t Add-Up” Ryan, whose speech tried to say that kids who get free school lunches don't have parents that love them….What?

All the other regular GOP clowns were also there from, MIke “Uncle Sugar” Huckabee, to the crazy Michele “Obamacare kills” Bachmann, to Rick “sweater-vest” Santorum, to Newt “Poor Kids Scrub Toilets” Gingrich.

But the worst one I think was the female with the mouth that matches her poison pen, yes, the anorexic, Ann Coulter.  Ms. Coulter actually said that if any immigration reform passes, it will be time to, "organize the death squads for the people who wrecked America."

Yes, you can’t make this  #$%^#  up.

What was really sad was how much pure “hate” seemed to be offered up in regular doses at this annual conservative clan meeting.  There were very few real ideas offered up.  It was mostly all the old, re-issued issues of tax cuts, and a dependency on working in the states to keep Americans citizens from voting, getting as much money from the Citizens-United decision as possible and the putting of the Koch Brothers on a very tall pedestal.

In other words, a normal CPAC meeting with no clear winners for what will save the Republican Party from themselves and the saving of the citizens of the United States of America.
