MISS UNIVERSE PROVED THAT THE DONALD CANNOT CONTROL HIMSELF
…The 1996 Miss Universe, Alicia
Machado
We do not want or need a man like
Donald Trump as our Commander-in-Chief.
OK, it’s time
to put the 1996 Beauty Queen, Alicia
Machado issue into a proper perspective.
Question#1:
Why do we now know who the Miss Universe of
1996 is today, 20 years later, and what does it have to do with the 2016
presidential election?
Question #2:
What does Donald Trump, calling the former
Miss Universe, Ms. Alicia Machado, names like: “Miss Piggy,” “eating machine,”
and “Miss Housekeeper”, have to do with the first 2016 presidential debate?
The very
simple answer to this is that as compared to the unorganized, multiple campaign
manager - Trump campaign, the well-tuned Hillary Clinton campaign did their
homework on Donald Trump’s history with women, and his inability to move on
from any accusation made toward him.
This bizarre
episode in political unreality does demand some real perspective. The reality
is that at the end of the debate, Clinton tossed out her final comments about
Trump’s treatment of Ms. Machado, knowing fully well that Trump would seize the
bait and become entangled in the mess.
The Hillary campaign knew that Donald Trump just cannot help himself, as
any and all witnesses to recent history are fully aware.
The Clinton campaign were so
sure of “The Donald’s” reactions to
Hillary’s comments, that they not only gave her the statement as to
how Trump treated Ms. Machado, they even pre-filmed an ad with the former
beauty queen, and it began running on TV stations while the debate was
still being reviewed.
As one conservative
editorial writer, Kathleen Parker has written: “News flash! Donald Trump was mean to a beauty queen, who, according to
Trump, gained too much weight. Trump didn’t suddenly become a jackass; he
didn’t suddenly begin treating women as chattel; he didn’t suddenly show his
nasty attitude toward those he considers beneath him.” Yes, it was just classic Trump!
This editorial writer’s
comments are correct, but the reality of Clinton’s campaign advisors is that
even they had no idea that Trump would double-down by tweeting about it in the middle of
the night four days later. This was way more than Clinton and her team could
have ever hoped for. Apparently, Trump
just couldn’t sleep from thinking about the comment from Hillary, and he
tweeted that Clinton had been duped into mentioning his comments about the “disgusting” Ms. Machado. Trump even Tweeted that Ms. Machado was the
worst ever Miss Universe, especially due to her “bad attitude”.
As the
aforementioned conservative writer also added, “Keep it up, Donnie, and Machado will have her own reality show before
you get yours back. It’s just ol’
Donald being ol’ Donald — then, still and always.”
Now Trump and
his surrogates are going after Clinton for the way she went after the women
that had inappropriate relationships with her husband Bill, before and when he
was president. In fact, Trump is going
full-bore after Hillary even though his advisors continue to tell him to stop
and get back to the issues. But as
usual, Trump has shown that he is totally incapable of containing himself when
someone attacks him personally.
Trump had even
Tweeted in that same early AM that
people need to check out a sex video that he said included Ms. Machado. But just
as there is no tape of Donald Trump saying he was against the invasion of Iraq, so far
no one has been able to locate such a sex tape with Ms. Machado. It’s just another of a Trump figment of a
vivid imagination.
Apparently,
Hillary’s real purpose in taking this approach with Ms. Machado was to help
attract more American Millennial voters.
I personally think that to gain the support of millennials, who are most
recently into today’s body-image struggle, this is not the
way.
But this is not a winning issue for Donald Trump, and
it was very appropriate for Hillary to take this approach in dealing with a narcissistic sexist
like Trump.
The real point
of all this is that it's just another example that Donald Trump just
cannot contain himself.
We do not need
a man like that in the White House,
and as our Commander-in-Chief.
