THOSE ON THE RIGHT ARE IGNORING THE LATEST NEWS…..AGAIN

Let’s not let facts get in the way of a fairy tale.

Back in 2009, the 2nd National Climate Assessment was made by those running the U.S. Global Change Research Program.  This is the Washington research operation that was first formed to utilize and bring together the inputs from 13 government agencies from the National Weather Service to NASA, in the study of the changes in weather occurring around the globe.

Well, the latest, official, National Climate Assessment was released this week and it is both scary and it is real news.

But from the point of view of Fox News, the idea of climate change, especially climate change possibly due to human activities, is not big news at Fox, but instead is just a great big hoax being perpetrated against all of humanity.

On the other hand, if you are a regular follower of Fox News, you will have noticed that Fox doesn’t actually “gather real news”.  They instead “cherry-pick” the news.  Instead of offering all the news that needs to be reported, they offer all the news that they feel needs to be reported.  And if the news doesn’t exactly say what they want to report, sometimes they just make up what they want their audience to hear.

Unfortunately, what has now been reported in the latest National Climate Assessment Report is that the planet is in some serious trouble. (And I’m sure you won’t hear that from any reporters on Fox News because the climate report doesn’t say anything about Benghazi.)

So, what’s the bad news in this latest report?

First it says the negative trends described in the 2009 report have continued and have accelerated, and the ability to model the many facets of the climate system have increased substantially, and it doesn’t look good.

Here are several noteworthy comments from the report:

·       Continued warming and an increased understanding of the U.S. temperature record, as well as multiple other sources of evidence, have strengthened the confidence in the conclusions that the warming trend is clear and primarily the result of human activities.

·       For the contiguous United States, the last decade was the warmest on record, and 2012 was the warmest year on record. In other words, the US can expect more rain, more heat, more floods, more hurricanes and more tornados.

·       The heavy precipitation and extreme heat events are increasing in a manner consistent with the organization’s model projections.

·       The risks of such extreme events will continue to rise in the future, and well beyond previous projections.

·        The sharp decline in summer Arctic sea ice has continued.  It is unprecedented, and is consistent with human-induced climate change. A new record for minimum area of Arctic sea ice was set in 2012.
A longer and better-quality history of the sea level rising has increased confidence that recent trends are unusual and human-induced.

·       The current knowledge of ice sheet dynamics has led to a broad range of projected sea level rises over this century. Flooding and a total loss of some islands can be expected in the near future.

·       New implications of heat trapping gas emissions have emerged, more than were previously expected.

I seriously doubt that this will ever be reported from any news outlet owned by Rupert Murdoch.

I wonder how Mr. Murdoch and those at his Fox News will feel when they realize that they are on the wrong side of history…….again.
