MANCHIN REVERSES HIS BLOCK ON THE DEMOCRAT'S CLEAN ENERGY BILL

…Senator Joe Manchin is also known as “Mr. Coal”

Manchin just happens to own a coal mine, in a coal mining state

How ironic that “Mr. Coal” (West Virginia Senator, Joe Manchin) once again had used his leverage to almost block the development of America’s clean energy.  He did this as millions of people on three continents baked in the sun.  Manchin had tried to use his leverage mainly to protect his coal.  It would have had serious implications for the world’s seven billion people.  Because Manchin tried to pull out of Biden’s clean energy plan, America’s embarrassing inaction would have made it for the U.S. to press other countries to take climate action on their own.

Democrats had initially thought that their “ambitions had to be held back”.  That was because Biden had previously bought into the false idea that he was the second coming of Franklin Roosevelt, of which would have made his efforts in clean energy hit into what became Manchin’s brick wall.

As Biden’s domestic clean energy agenda appeared to collapse, the Democrats would have been staring at a political hole whose bottom would not have been seen.  With Manchin’s withdrawal from his support, the Democrats would have been stripped of their ability to run on that clean energy platform.  Now, the Democrats will have their political connection to those Americans of modest means.  This includes the working class, most of the Whites, Hispanics and of course, the Blacks.  Theoretically, without that connection, that would have left the Dems trapped alone with the far left of the party’s college-educated elite.

This would have been an “extraordinarily bleak” moment for the climate, said Robinson Meyer in The Atlantic.  As the world has warmed over the past three decades, the Democrats had failed to address the crisis with “any major federal legislation.”  If Manchin had not reversed his position, the Democrats would have just, failed again.

In the years to come, the consequence of inaction would be with more extreme heat waves, “larger wildfires, widening droughts, and more murderous floods.”  As the damage would increase, “this stain would have put a stain on Manchin’s record, but it would have also been a stain on the Democratic Party.”

Unfortunately, this probably won’t be the last time we see Joe Manchin uses his leverage to stop his party.
