BEWARE!!! TWO GUBERNATORIAL WANNABEES ARE HEADED OUR WAY
…Ron DeSantis
is one of those that wants to be president
Two Republican
Governors want to follow in George W. Bush’s shoes
I’m sure if you are over 25 years old, you remember how poor George W. Bush was as a U.S. president.
Well, don’t look now, but another Texas gubernatorial idiot is coming at you. His name is Greg Abbott. I realize we haven’t even gotten to the midterm elections but, alas, we need to focus on presidential politics also.
An especially large danger from two U.S governors looms, and liberals can’t just sit back and wait for it to hit us.in November 2024.
The right-wing extremism has become extremely extreme, and it is now festering in the Republican party and will eventually erupt in a presidential primary.
And its not with just Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
In fact, many members of the republican extreme establishment have a new darling in the Florida governor, Ron DeSantis.
The National Review says the Florida governor is the “hottest thing in GOP politics,” and he is second only to Donald Trump in the party.
DeSantis is prompted by a collective swoon for him within the rightest community, with his strongman authoritarianism. The governor puts the “bull” in bully. He demonizes immigrants, fabricating voter fraud, just like Trump. He promotes Covid lies and he asserts government power to bully the majority will, the local communities, the state’s workers, the poor, Florida’s environment, the truth, fairness, honesty and of course, our democracy.
Desantis’
autocratic moves are curiously thrilling many of those that at one time
professed to be “small government conservatives”.
They are now cheering for him to go national with his reliance on Big Government Boss-ism to overwhelm the people’s democratic authority.
In fact, Ron’s “poll tax,” like other Republican-run states, it keeps manufacturing ways to restrict all voter participation, blocking most African Americans from the polls.
In 2018, however, the Floridians themselves turned back the suppressors by approving a ballot measure to “expand the electorate”. A whopping 65% said “yes” to eliminating a vindictive lifelong ban on voting ex-felons. Those people that had served their time in prison.
But, of course, DeSantis pulled out an old Jim Crow method he had up his sleeve. He rammed a mean technical gotcha into the state law, preventing former felons from voting until they paid in full, any court fines for things like having been fined for marijuana possession. Those fines can run into thousands of dollars.
So the new law priced a big percentage of these new eligible voters out of their democratic participation. It’s nothing but a crude partisan poll tax to keep 1.4 million felons, a select group of poor people, from casting ballots.
DeSantis idea is for getting rid of those people that don’t vote for him. He says, “Just nullify them!”
In Orange County, a sprawling central Florida region that includes Orlando, Disney World, and a blessing of lakes, marshes and wildlife, including endangered manatees.
There is years of developer greed that has been poisoning all of the above.
The
people have long petitioned their local and state officials to protect the
invaluable ecosystem, but no way.
So, in 2020, an innovative local group called Speak Up Wekiva worked to place an amendment on the county ballot to extend legal rights directly to their waterways. This measure would allow nature itself to bypass the do-nothing, corrupt officials and protect its inherent right to exist and thrive.
Corporate
powers and their politicians squawked like Chicken-Littles and went all-out to
kill the very idea of such direct grassroots democracy.
To their astonishment, though the initiative didn’t just pass, it was swept into law by a stunning 89% majority of the voters.
But the people be damned. Unbeknown to the voters, DeSantis’s legislative allies had snuck a nullification provision into the state law just prior to the Orange election, preemptively canceling any local attempt to grant protective rights to nature.
Appalled by such devious corporate servitude, the Florida Rights of Nature Networks is now organizing a statewide constitutional ballot initiative to grant all Floridians a fundamental “Right to Clean and Healthy waters,” enabling the people to hold state executives accountable in court when they fail to protect Florida waters.
To show how far DeSantis is going. Florida’s supreme leader announced that he intends to form his own military force. A state army that would report directly to him and that would by-pass the U.S. chain of command, to protect the state “in case of” emergencies.
“What’s
an emergency? “
Of course, DeSantis will decide.
