IS THE U.S. HEADED TO NO LONGER BEING A DEMOCRACY?

The People of Ukraine do not want to again become part of Russia

 

It’s pretty revealing that the people of the Ukraine would rather the country be a democratic nation than to again become part of the Russian empire, under an authoritarian dictator such as Vladimir Putin.

It is obvious that Putin has not taken over the Ukraine as easily as he had expected.  So much so, that he has had the gall to set his Nuclear Team on “high alert”.

It’s pretty ridiculous that he would do this as if he would actually threaten the use of nuclear weapons to take over a smaller country such as the Ukraine. 

Russia has apparently not gotten the memo that the nations of NATO are not going to sit back and watch Putin take over a smaller democratic country.  NATO won’t go to war, but they won’t easily let a small democratic nation be taken over that is on the border of an authoritarian country like Russia.  There is no way NATO would just let Russia take over the country without some serious protest.  Every European NATO country is today sending money, weapons, and help, to the Ukraine.  They are also opening their borders to thousands of Ukrainian refugees.  The U.S. is also sending money, weapons, aircraft and military personnel to NATO’s democratic nations bordering Russia.

The U.S. and NATO nations are also sanctioning Russia and Putin and many of Russia’s wealthy oligarchies, as well as removing all of them from the fast SWIFT payment systems for the Russian oligarchies and banks to do business.

I have looked into what it would take for the estimated 3-4 million Ukrainians to leave the country.  Since the Russian military is controlling the Ukraine’s air space, no commercial airplanes can be used.  Therefore, their only option is via automobiles or the railroads.  And since the country’s roads are backed up for miles at the boarders and the Russian military has stopped many Ukraine’s automobiles from leaving the country, that leaves just the railroads for the masses.

I have checked out the railroads of the Ukraine and they have 6 different railroad operations for the country   The names of the systems are: Lviv, Southwestern, Southem, Odessa, Cisdnieper and Donets.  

The Lviv system would take Ukrainians west to Poland, Hungary and Slovania.  The Southwestern system would take them to Belarus, the Odessa line would take them to Moldavia and Romania.  Unfortunately, the Cisdnieper line can easily, only go to Russian held territory, or as a way to get to the other Ukrainian railroad lines, and it is the same for the Donets rail line. 

As the Russians had originally built the Ukraine’s underground railroad stations to also be used as bomb shelters during the cold war.  That is how they are also being used in the Ukraine today.  But this time, as shelter against the Russian military.

The Russian military has been sending missiles into the Ukrainian capital, and many other Ukraine city’s apartment buildings, businesses, and against the fighting Ukrainian men and women.  Many young men and women have taken up arms and Molotov Cocktails against the Russian military.  

Putin had apparently expected that the take-over of the Ukraine to be as easy as they have other, smaller nations.  But the Ukraine is a country the size of Texas, and for 40 million residents, and most of the people do not want to be part of Russia.  This is why they are fighting so fiercely against the Russian military.

It is also showing why the NATO nations have come together and why the U.S. and the other democratic, European countries have come together to support the Ukrainians.

It is so sad that many U.S. Republicans and the Fox Network is almost in total support of Russia and Putin.  Actually, it is despicable.  There are those, including the former U.S. president and some of his cronies that have voiced their approval and support for Putin and what he is doing,  Many U.S. GOP politicians have referred to Putin as being a savvy leader and they have stated their respect for him as a leader.

This is not acceptable for any American that believes in democracy and the freedom that we enjoy as the greatest and longest surviving democracy.

It is sad that we are watching what they say is that approximately 30% of our country would prefer an authoritarian leader over being a democracy....?

I had expected that Donald Trump would not make a very good U.S. president, but I never had the thought that so many people would get caught up in his type of thinking,  

And I hope that the future elections won’t make the mistake of electing Trump, or someone like him being our president.

We would then be on our way to no longer being a democracy..
