IS TRUMP STARTING TO DROWN IN HIS OWN LIES?
…Trump says that if he wins Pennsylvania, he
wins,,,, just another lie?
Per CNN: Trump’s re-election strategy is based
on ‘deliberate serial dishonesty”.
I have wondered how someone like Donald Trump, could lie so much, and still have 40% of the country supporting him. The nation’s publication fact checkers have stated that the latest debate has allowed the president to race passed his 22,000 total of blatant lies.
But when I think back to the beginning, when this all started, I remember one of the statements from one of his earlier advisers. This was one of those who, like many in the president’s tent, have moved on to be outside the president’s arena.
That adviser was Stephen Bannon.
Under Mr. Bannon’s direction, when the president’s team was looking for a strategy for having effective national political communication, Bannon offered the following advise that appears to have been what the president has adopted over the past four years. Per Mr. Bannon, when it was noted that Trump’s opposition was not the Democrats, but it was instead, the media, here was Steve Bannon’s advice: “The way to deal with them [the media] is to flood the zone with shit!”
So, based on Trump’s response to that advice, Trump has followed that direction for the past four years, well over those 22,000 lies.
Now, Trump’s lies do work! Their sheer relentlessness of Trump has mesmerized his voters into distrusting most all legitimate sources of authority. Trump’s “reality star mysticism” has reduced his part of America to a level of living zombies, rendering all real Trump accountability impossible.
But, now that the final presidential debate is behind us, and we’re heading into the campaign’s homestretch, a funny thing is happening. If Trump has succeeded in “flooding the zone with shit,” Trump himself is the person most at risk of drowning in it.
Many of the nation’s leading fact-checkers, they have weighed in on the final presidential debate. Only one of the candidates was relentlessly lying about literally everything. The other wasn’t doing anything close to that.
This idea is itself is one of the big stories of this news cycle. If the whole point of the zone-flooding is to drown the possibility of determining truth from fiction, then it’s a welcome example for clarifying the narrative about the dishonesty imbalance between these two candidates.
Trump yet again broke the nation’s fact-checking meter at this second presidential debate, while the Democratic nominee made relatively few gaffes. This was concluded by The Washington Post fact-checking team. They added that “virtually all” of the major falsehoods and distortions came directly from President Trump.
The fact checker at CNN has said it best: ““We have a president who’s running for re-election on a strategy of deliberate serial dishonesty,” this was added by the CNN’s Daniel Dale.
But even though Trump’s lies work, today Trump’s lies are failing. The striking possibility that Trump is drowning in his own zone-flooding excrement is unfolding on several fronts at once.
It is appearing that more and more journalists are deciding that honestly dealing with all of Trump’s lies is a risk they have to take. In short, all of Trump’s relentless lying is slowly nudging the press into shedding more light on the real issues.
None of this necessarily means Trump will lose re-election. Yes, he could go on to win, especially via his massive cheating.
But it’s hard to see how all the lying and zone-flooding is helping him at this point of the election. And if he loses, we might look back and conclude that the real story all along was that he drowned himself in it.
Well, we can only hope that’s what happens.
