IF TRUMP LOSES, “PROUD BOYS” APPEAR TO BE IN TRUMP’S PLANS
…Just an example of the “Proud Boys”, and their
supporters
These “Boys” are White Supremist haters that
support Donald Trump
I have recently decided to look into the hate group known as the Proud Boys. I was particularly interested in them when I learned that they had first come to one of my favorite cities, Portland, Oregon. I have a number of family members in Portland, and even more family in other towns in Oregon. As it turns out, I also grew up a number of years in both Washington and Oregon towns, and both my wife and I have loved visiting family and friends in this Great Northwest area. However, these recent events in Portland are the furthest from anything that we ever expected to happen in such a great city.
To define exactly what the Proud Boys are, they are a White Supremist hate group that espouses pro-Trump & police friendly rhetoric. Their members are all male, no women allowed, and they have a reputation for sparking fights with any left-leaning organization. They hate all Jews, Blacks, all immigrants, and any left-leaning organizations.
They have started hate rallies in other Democratic run cities where President Trump has fanned the flames of lawlessness by accusing all Democratic run cities of condoning that lawlessness. They show-up armed to the teeth and they always accuse Antifa as the far-left group that is the guilty party.
However, there is no real organized group called Antifa.. Antifa is not an organization. It is a political protest concept and a kind of movement. The movement is comprised of other autonomous groups that are affiliated by their militant opposition to fascism and other forms of extreme right-wing ideology. There is no Antifa leader, or Antifa headquarters, or even an organized group of Antifa protesters.
The Proud Boys chairman, Enrique Tarrio said in an interview with The Washington Post that his group is making a stand for free speech in a place (Portland) that he believes encourages leftist riots. He believes that Portland supporters have sparked political violence against conservatives and law enforcement in other Democratic run cities. .
According to Tarrio: “Portland’s the epicenter for all this. It goes beyond free speech right now. Portland has franchised these riots across the country.” Tarrio said, he hopes his events spur authorities to take more action against demonstrators. Other cities “see these things happening, and they’re like: ‘We can do this here, too.’ Portland leads by example.”
…A typical “Proud Boy” member
What is on people’s minds today about the Proud Boys is coming directly from the president’s mouth this week at the first presidential debate. In that event, Trump told the Proud Boys to “Stand back and to stand by”. Trump’s purpose is apparently about what is expected to happen after the November 3rd election, if Trump loses the vote. What happens with groups like the Proud Boys is the actions of what is expected to happen during the time between the election and January 20th, if Joe Biden wins.
The Proud Boys have acknowledged the president’s comments to “stand by,” and they are set to do whatever is necessary if Trump loses, as Trump told them to: “stand by”. That is being interpreted today as , “Now it’s time for violence,” just like this kind of action would happen in any other autonomous Banana republic.
Nobody thinks that Donald Trump will give up his presidential power without causing serious damage.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D), who has declared a state of emergency, said the state police and county sheriff’s office would oversee the response to any protests and they would be dispatching additional law enforcement to the area to patrol highways, looking for people coming to town, just to “cause trouble.”
“People have come to Portland, time and time again, from out of town looking for a fight, and the results are always tragic,” Brown said. “Let me perfectly clear; we will not tolerate any kind of violence. Left, right or center, violence is never a path toward meaningful change. … Those stoking the flames of violence, those coming to Portland looking for a fight, will be held accountable.”
Travis Hampton, the superintendent of the Oregon State Police, has said that Portland residents would be seeing a “massive influx of Oregon state troopers.” Hampton said authorities will “do their best” to keep “hostile parties apart from one another.” He said police would consider using tear gas and other irritants on crowds if lives are in danger.
The Proud Boys are one of several predominantly White, right-wing groups that have surfaced publicly going back to Trump’s 2016 election. Vice Media creator, Gavin McInnes started the group in 2016, though he has since distanced himself from the organization and its increasingly violent reputation.
The Proud Boys describe themselves as a “Western chauvinist” fraternal group that believes in ending the nation’s welfare, closing all the borders and they believe in strict adherence to traditional gender roles. They believe that White culture, and White men in particular, are under attack from a world consumed by “political correctness”. The first step of becoming a member is reciting a loyalty oath that includes the phrase “I refuse to apologize for creating the modern world.”
The group latches onto controversial causes that larger segments of the right embrace, such as unwavering support for police, they are anti- Islam, and they fight the removal of any Confederate statues. But the Proud Boys also use coded language and irreverent humor to mask beliefs that are even more sinister. As an example, the Proud Boys networks spent the past weeks spreading memes and videos mocking the death of Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
That nuanced stance has allowed the Proud Boys to grow, even as other groups were vilified following the deadly “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville.
This information came from Brian Levin, the director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University at San Bernardino. “When you mix a combination of the shrouded and overt bigotry along with their propensity for violence and showing up at the most incendiary events, it really is a significant and growing risk,” Levin said. “It’s especially volatile when you overlay this political situation, where the presidential election is considered a battleground in a civil war.”
“Members of the Proud Boys rise through the ranks by engaging in street violence”, said Jerry Savage, a Seattle resident who started a Facebook group aimed at exposing members who commit crimes.
“These are the kind of guys who watch cage fights, and all Mixed Martial Arts, and they are grappling with their buddies in their backyards and looking for a time to use that experience,” he said, referring to their mixed martial arts competitions.
Portland’s steady, on-going protests have provided ample opportunities for the Proud Boys to spark clashes.
“In their minds, we (the demonstrators) represented some kind of domestic terrorist threat to America,” said Jason Britton, a demonstrator and documentarian who was hit in the eye by a Proud Boy’s paintball during a scuffle between protesters and Proud Boys. “They see it as if they’re fulfilling their oath to the constitution. They see Black Lives Matter and the left’s Antifa as their domestic enemy.”
Expect to see more of the Proud Boys, if Trump loses as is currently expected.
