TRUMP OFFERS UP A DISGUSTING RACIST CAMPAIGN AD

…Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) has denounced the latest Trump 2018 campaign ad.

Unless they are soundly beaten in the midterms, the Republicans will get even worse.

Trump’s latest racist ad shows just how low the Republicans have sunk.

If you look at the leaders at Fox News, including the head honcho, Rupert Murdoch, and then add Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Lou Dobbs.  Oh, and let's not forget to add all the Fox shareholders, Fox producers and Fox executives and any other on-air Fox personalities.  I would say that this low point in campaigning s mostly from this group’s doing.

This group has spent years drumming up the fear of immigrants, totally misrepresenting the danger they pose, blurring the line between criminals and non-criminals such as the “Dreamers”.  They have also sent dog whistles....correction: made trumpet blasts in support of white nationalists.   Perhaps, instead of referring to the Fox clan as a news organization, we should call them the source of material from the worst elements in our society.  And we know that a small sliver of that element will also become extremely violent.

Fox is not a reputable place where competent and honest news people should want to work. Nor is it a network that advertisers should support or that viewers should indulge.

As an example, there is President Trump’s latest ad for making Americans to be afraid, which is both ridiculous and blatantly racist.

The ad shows an illegal immigrant boasting about killing police officers.  This is a fitting final pitch for the mid-terms for a party and a campaign that are now nearly entirely focused on whipping up xenophobia.

The man on the screen has a shaved head and a mustache with a long goatee.  He is smiling as he announces, “I killed f‐‐-ing cops.”

The man’s name is Luis Bracamontes, he is a twice-deported Mexican immigrant who was given the death penalty in April for killing two California law enforcement officers in 2014.  At the time of the shootings, Bracamontes was in the United States illegally.  Now, with the mid-term election approaching, he’s the star of the GOP’s latest disgusting campaign ad.

Disgusting text is superimposed over videos of Bracamontes as he appears to show no remorse for his crimes, and even declaring, “I’m going to kill more cops soon.”

The ad also shows a woman locking her windows closed and with locking multiple dead bolts on her front door.

More footage follows: Throngs of unidentified people rioting in unidentified streets and pushing down fences in undisclosed locations. A Fox News Channel correspondent is shown interviewing a man identified only as “deported immigrant in caravan,” who asks to be pardoned for attempted murder. … “Who else would Democrats let in?” the video asks. An image of Bracamontes smiling face re-appears before being replaced by text, “President Donald Trump and Republicans are making America safe again.”

Activating voters' fears is a long tradition in Republican political ads, and 2018 is no different.

The Democrats have even put together a compilation of GOP fear mongering ads going back to Richard Nixon, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and even Mitt Romney.  But not to be left out, the ads also showed the famous 1964 LBJ, Cold War “Daisy Girl” ad.  This ad shows a small little girl, no talking in the ad, just a slow close up of the girl with the flower.  Then the ad finishes with the mushroom cloud of a nuclear explosion.  In the 1964 campaign, this ad was to make people fear the Soviet Union and it implied that LBJ wouldn’t let that happen.

Yes, there are those Republicans who obviously think that words just don’t matter.  They rationalize their support for this president because of his judge choices and/or the tax cuts.  They also insist that domestic terrorism is unrelated to the normalization of serious racist rhetoric.  They remain silent, believing that they have no moral responsibility for dealing with this brand of politics.

Because of these individuals, perhaps this would be a reason to follow the suggestion of the American author, Mr. Max Boot.  He has said that this is a reasonable reason to vote against each and every Republican on the ballot.

We have not seen one individual Republican candidate, let alone any House or Senate leaders, denounce this ad, or to insist that Trump take it down.  Silence is therefore, total assent.  Also therefore, each assent deserves the ire of all decent voters.

White House staffers who insist that they be treated like staffers of previous administrations, you know, “thanked for their service”, they need to understand that they will share the blame for a very dark chapter in American history.

Historically, improper political ads have gone from LBJ’s Daisy girl & nuclear war, to the GOP’s military Swift Boat ads against John Kerry and the murderer, Willie Horton who was implicated in an ad against Democratic Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis in 1974.

These have become the staple for presidential campaigns.

However, regarding this Latest Trump ad featuring Luis Bracamontes, even the lame-duck Senator, Jeff Flake (R-AZ) stated “This is just a new low in campaigning. It’s sickening”.

But denouncing the ad was not enough for the retiring Senator, Bob Corker (R-TN).  Before the ad hit, he rebuked Trump without even mentioning his name.   Per Sen. Corker: “We all know what’s happening. It’s all about revving up the base, using fear to stimulate people to come out at the polls.

But these two  US Senators need to demand that the ad come down and they should try to convince their colleagues on the ballot to denounce it.  If the colleagues refuse, Flake and Corker should pull any endorsements from them.

I personally appreciate the condemnation of any Republicans such as Sens, Jeff Flake and Bob Corker, but they need to do more.

Yes, the GOP has sunk to new lows, but as bad as this is, they have not yet hit bottom.

Unless soundly beaten in the midterms, Republicans will get even worse.  In fact, they will probably get worse regardless of whether they win or lose.
