D.C. SWAMP IS DEEPER THAN YOU THINK

…The cartoonists do it best….

Trump is undoing what was accomplished after Watergate

If you think things in Washington are bad today, you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

Here is what the chief oversight official, Rachael Brand, posted on her Linkedin page explaining why she resigned from the US Justice Department in July of 2017:

“Trying to hold companies to standards that our current administration is not living up to was creating a cognitive dissonance that I could not overcome.  To sit across the table from companies and questioning how committed they were to ethics and compliance felt not only hypocritical, but very much like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.  Even as I engaged in those questionings and evaluations, on my mind were the numerous lawsuits pending against the President of the United States for everything from violations of the constitution to conflicts of interest, the ongoing investigation of potentially treasonous conducts, and the investigators and prosecutors fired for their pursuits of principles and facts.  Those are conducts I would not tolerate seeing in a company, yet I worked under an administration that engaged in exactly those conducts.  I wanted no more part in it.”

Here are some basic facts about this administration that had been previously dealt with by the US Congress after the Watergate affair:

·       The showing of the president’s tax returns had been a regular activity since Gerald Ford became president.

·       Conflict-of-Interest rules have been ignored for the first time since Richard Nixon.

·       Running a business while in office hasn’t happened since Lyndon B. Johnson.

·       The appointment of a relative in a senior government position was last done by John F. Kennedy when he made his brother, Robert, the Attorney General.

·       The first appointment of a son or daughter to a Senior White House adviser position hasn’t occurred since FDR appointed his son James.

·       The first time a president was able to enrich their family while in office goes way back to Ulysses S. Grant.

·       This is the first time that US foreign policy has been subordinated to the president’s personal business interests.

·       This is the first time ever that foreign cash has been allowed to flow directly to the president through his family’s businesses.

·       And finally, more of the people’s tax revenue has been spent on this family and their security, travel, and general welfare than any presidential family in US history.

As some examples, when son Eric went to Uruguay on a business trip for the president, the Secret Service spent nearly $100,000, just for hotel rooms.

Trump’s weekend trips to his golf locations in Florida and New Jersey cost the US tax payers approximately $3,000,000 per trip.  (Just renting golf carts for Trump's Secret Service protection cost $100,000 in Trump's first year.  Trump complained about Obama's playing too much golf.  Trump played more golf in his first year than Obama did in 8 years.)

In addition, in Trump’s first year in office, Trump spent more on travel and security than Obama did in his 8 years in office.  That is according to the US General Accounting Office.

This administration is totally corrupt and very expensive for us, the US taxpayers.
