TRUMP PARDONED DINESH D’SOUZA “THE MOST DISPICABLE FIGURE IN AMERICA”

…The “despicable” Dinesh D’Souza

He truly is “despicable”!

Dinesh D’Souza was interviewed by Fox & Friends and he said that President Trump called him and said he was a “Voice of Freedom” and that he had been “screwed” by those that took him to court.

I don’t know how a loud mouth, conservative pundit and author like Dinesh D’Souza, who had pled guilty in 2014 to violating campaign-finance laws, could have been “screwed” by the authorities.  He pled guilty for Pete's sake!!!!

Let’s just look at what a long-time, op-ed writer for the Washington Post wrote about Mr. D’Souza: “That Trump decided to pardon D’Souza, one of the most despicable and poisonous figures in American public life, is further proof that this president spends a good deal of his time acting like a right-wing Internet troll whose greatest pleasure in life comes from finding ways to set off the Liberals.”

Trump has already used his power to pardon almost exclusively for doling out favors to right wing nuts like Joe Arpaio and Scooter Libby.

So, just what did this “most despicable” individual actually do or say: He regularly spread racist statements about Obama, He suggested that the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville was staged by liberals,  He rather weirdly insisted that “Hitler was NOT anti-gay”,  He compared those protesting police shootings of unarmed African Americans to ISIS, He suggested that the media were engaged in a conspiracy to cover up the fact that the Las Vegas shooter was “an anti-Trump guy” (which he wasn’t),  He spread the despicable and false theory that liberal billionaire George Soros, who had escaped the Holocaust as a child, was actually a Nazi collaborator.

Let’s be crystal clear about exactly who D’Souza is: “He isn’t just a conservative or a provocateur. He’s a bigot, a liar, a criminal, and a peddler of insane and hateful conspiracy theories.”

It will be disgusting if the right wing publications soft-pedal and frame the coverage of Trump’s decision simply as, “Trump Pardons a Conservative Author”.  This will be nothing but another bare-faced lie about someone that offers up rancid bile on a regular basis.

In other words, almost all of Trump’s pardons were only meant as favors to right wing consevatives.

As for D’Souza, we need to be clear on the crime he actually committed.

There are some campaign-finance violations that are trivial, or that might be explained away as oversights. This was not one of them. D’Souza knew very well he was breaking the law, and he took steps to conceal his actions.  He devised and carried out a scheme to violate election laws.

Specifically, he and his wife had given the legal limit in contributions to a friend running for US Senate.  But he wanted to give more money.  However, by law, he was prohibited from doing that.  So, instead, he instructed his assistant and his mistress (yes, he had a mistress) to also give the legal limit, and then he reimbursed them for their contributions.  He therefore concealed the true source of the money.

That is not an oversight; it is willful and illegal fraud.

So, where did D’Souza come from?

As a student at Dartmouth University in the 1980s, he ran the conservative “Dartmouth Review,” a publication that reveled in being politically incorrect.  For D’Souza this meant publishing racist material while outing closeted gay students.  But being hailed as a rising conservative star, he obtained support from the Heritage Foundation, and he worked in the Reagan administration.  He then went on to publish books decrying the effect of liberalism’s on America. In 1991, a conservative newspaper called him “the polemical darling of the season.”

As time went on, D’Souza’s became increasingly conspiratorial and totally obnoxious. He wrote multiple negative books on Barack Obama, charging that the former president, was driven by a need to punish white people for the sins of colonialism, and that Obama had hatched a plan to destroy America.

His latest book is titled “The Big Lie: Exposing the Nazi Roots of the American Left,” where he not only argued that Hitler took his inspiration from American Democrats, but he took  the fact that, during the 1860s, the Democratic Party was the conservative, slavery-supporting party.  Now that’s not exactly a secret, but a fact that he presents as though it’s a shocking discovery that he just made!  He then tries to spin it into a decades-long conspiracy that he says proves that Democrats are “The Real Racists”.

To show you how far he has gone against President Obama, in 2015, D’Souza tweeted a photo of Obama taking a selfie (horrors!) with the caption,

“YOU CAN TAKE THE BOY OUT OF THE GHETTO…Watch this vulgar man show his stuff, while America cowers in embarrassment.”

In his 1995 book “The End of Racism,” he argued that “The American slave was treated like property, which is to say, pretty well,” and contended that given “black cultural pathology, discrimination against African Americans is perfectly rational, even if it may be unfair to some people."

In other words, D’Souza is a perfect conservative for the Trump era.  He’s bigoted, hateful, happy to spread lies, and consumed with bizarre theories about Democrats’ secret plans to destroy the country.

In fairness, we should acknowledge that many conservatives find D’Souza an embarrassment, someone they wish would go away and not sully their ideological cause with his disgusting ideas.

But as we learned with the pardon, the president of the United States is a very big a fan of Mr. D'Souza.
