AMERICAN LIVES UNDER AN AUTOCRATIC PRESIDENT
…The way "The Donald " sees himself
Trump made his position clear at the
G7, “We’ve [I’ve] got a world to run!”
This is my personal view of what is
happening with our current president, and my understanding of this man goes
back to the Donald J. Trump of the 1980’s.
Trump is today spouting the same
comments that he has believed for decades about how our allies are
screwing the US with trade agreements such as NAFTA, and all the other
multilateral trade agreements.
This man, who does not read and
never listens to anyone but his own gut, he refuses to take any time to study
why we are where we are, and that it is impossible for him to do what he says
he can do in hours and days, not the months and years it usually takes.
As an example, Trump once said
during the cold war between the West and the East, that if he were put in a
room with the US and the Soviet Union, he could have it all settled in hours
and everyone could go home happy and content.
No, I’m not kidding. This was
stated not long after he and his associate writer had published his book, “The
Art of the Deal”. If you ever did read it, you would realize how
dated it is and how much it is and was a serious pile of manure. I still
don’t understand why a man that has gone through 6 major corporate bankruptcy
filings, is still considered such a great deal-maker….?
This man, that says we in America
have been “screwed by all of our friends around the world”, even at the
same time he is saying that this country today is doing better than it has ever
done since the end of World War II. This idiot thinks that it was his
efforts over the last year that caused all of what is going so well today in
unemployment, the economy and the stock market.
The US has been on a rising tide after the Greatest
Recession since the Great
Depression, and since Obama was elected. Every year since Obama’s inauguration, this country has improved in all these key areas. That was even
after we had previously entered into very expensive wars in the middle east that are still
in process.
In fact, there is a good chance that
because of some of Donald Trump’s latest efforts, we may still go into a major
recession before the end of Trump’s first term.
Trump said recently that for the
first time ever, there are more available jobs in America than there are
available workers. Trump doesn’t seem to realize that this is because
there are too many workers that are not qualified to work in today’s
jobs. And that’s because they have not been trained for today jobs.
There are plenty of people that are available to work in the US, but NOT plenty
of “qualified available workers”. And the Trump administration’s efforts are doing nothing to prepare future Americans to be
qualified for tomorrow’s jobs. That’s one reason why we have so many
homeless vets and people that used to have manual labor jobs that were taken
away by automation, not by foreign immigrants. Those Americans are today
living on the streets and in their cars and old motor homes across the country.
The other era that our ignorant
leader doesn’t recall, was that after WWII, the United States was one of the
only nations that was not attacked, while all of our allies with the exception
of Australia and New Zealand, they were bombed to smithereens, as was Japan,
the Philippines’ and the South Pacific.
All of those trade agreements that
were started back then were what allowed our allies to eventually re-build
their countries and to come back to being useful and productive and very good allies
and friends.
Yes, there could have been better
trade deals made over the years, but compared to Europe, the US also did not have to deal with a
neighbor next door as with the Soviet Block countries
just over their borders.
No wonder the United State became
the leader of the free world. We had the natural resources, we had
developed the first atomic bomb and atomic power system and the world strongest
democratic nation and strongest free military. We had even developed he concept of
mass production. The US was the only nation that was in a position to
take on the communist nations and to call their bluff.
With Trump’s love of autocrats like
Putin and all the other world’s dictators, I believe that it will take the
United States decades to get over the damage that will come from the Trump
Administration. It is ridiculous for the president of this nation, a nation that was the
originator of the original G8 coalition, for him to even consider asking that
Russia re-join the G7 group after they were thrown out. This is
ridiculous. Russia was thrown out due to their invasion of 2 sovereign
nations where they illegally annexed the Crimea.
In addition, Trump apparently does
understand that a lot of our problems with our raising debt and trade issues
are due to our own bad decisions. But thinking he can fix them
by himself is more than delusional. Yes, it was the US that did not
review its trade agreements over the years, and that includes both the nation's political
parties when they were in power. It was the US that decided to go to war
in Iraq and Afghanistan, which has put us in serious debt. And those efforts in
the middle east continue under President Trump. Trump took us out of the
Iran agreement, but that agreement was not meant to deal with everything wrong
in Iran. It was a focused approach to deal with keeping Iran from getting
to where North Korea is today with "the bomb".
And if Trump isn’t successful in
North Korea in this coming summit, it will be because Kim Jong Un has been
given the world stage by President Trump. Trump will never live it down if Kim
does to him what North Korea has done to every other president for decades.
So, we are now going to have a trade
war with our friends; we have a president that is having a “Bromance”
with one of our longest and most determined threatening enemies; and we have a president that has made a sadistic minor dictator, a world recognized
leader, that has killed his own Generals and his relatives just to keep his
position in his own country.
God Help Us All.
