DONALD TRUMP'S 3,787 “BALD-FACED LIE”
…Donald Trump stating another Lie
aboard Air Force One.
The idea that multiple 100+ year-old
Americans came up to Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign is ridiculous.
There is no
issue that the president of this United States has a total disregard for telling the
truth. But even though we are aware of
his inability to tell the basic truth about anything, there are times that when the
lie is so ridiculous, so grotesque, that it totally defies historical honesty, and
it just has to be brought to everyone’s attention.
Last week, the
president just had to explain that from his Singapore Summit with the leader of
North Korea, he was now working on bringing home the remains of American
GI’s killed in the Korean conflict in North Korea.
Now that is great that the president is working with Kim Jong Un to bring home the remains
of Americans killed between 1949 and 1953.
But as usual
with the Trumpster, “The Donald” just
couldn’t make this statement without adding some obviously false information.
What Trump
said was that a number of parents of Korean War veterans had come up to
him during the 2016 campaign and asked: "If you become president, we'd love our son to be brought back home, you
know, his remains."
So, assuming the parents of a Korean War veteran were between 18 and 30 when their child was born, those parents today would be somewhere between 101 to 113 years old.
So, assuming the parents of a Korean War veteran were between 18 and 30 when their child was born, those parents today would be somewhere between 101 to 113 years old.
The idea that
multiple 101 to 113-year-old people came up to Donald Trump on the 2016 campaign
trail to ask him to bring home the remains of their son killed on North Korean
soil, 63 years ago, is just absurd.
Oh it's a
stirring story, and a noble enough sentiment, and, in this case, it is completely
nuts. The president is just stating something false, one more time.
This is once again a quintessential Trumpian lie that is totally shameless, easily
verifiable as false, and totally rooted in the false notion that there are "many people” of who are never defined,
and who no one will ever be able to find.
How many times
in this troubled period in our nation's history will we have to hear something totally false from our own American President...?
The more
worrying thing here is that there was not all that much to gain from Trump telling the lie,
while the related issue of bringing the remains home was already a victory for
the president.
This all points
to is that Trump’s lying is truly pathological, and an instinctive “mode of operation” for a dangerously
impulsive man that happens to be the US President.
It's not
breaking any new ground to say that this is a problematic attribute for the leader
of the world's most powerful nation.
