TRUMP’S LIES EARN MORE PINOCCHIO’S
…This is cute, but it just
signifies more lies from our president.
Washington Post Fact Checkers go
after some of Trump’s lies.
When you have
a president that lives by all the lies from his own mouth, it does provide a
plethora of information and news worthy events for we pundits.
However, Trump
has gone and done it again as he bragged that: “He has done far more than Obama in giving the fight to ISIS”.
WRONG!
As trump
repeats this false claim regularly, the Fact Checkers have now gotten involved and
this statement by Trump has earned himself Three Pinocchio’s for this lie.
This latest
repeated claim was made after the recent fall of Raqqa, the ISIS de-facto capital city
in Syria.
The reason the
Fact Checker gave Trump the Pinocchio’s is as follows:
The Islamic
State (ISIS) reached its height of control in late 2014 when militants
controlled an estimated 35,000 square miles of land. By the time Trump took
office, their territory had fallen to 23,000 square miles; as of June of this
year, the Islamic State’s control shrunk to 14,000 square miles.
The plans for
the allies to retake the key cities of Mosul and Raqqa were developed and launched
under President Obama. Yes, experts do credit Trump with some tactical shifts
that may have stepped up the tempo, but that move also significantly increased
the number of civilian deaths according to official figures.
According to
the Trump administration, they have liberated land at a faster rate than the
Obama administration. But the majority
of this territory is empty desert that did not require the firing of one gun to
liberate.
When you look
at the stats, under Trump, the coalition forces have only flown 23% of the
total flown sorties and they dropped only 36% of the air munitions used.
It is true
that a president taking credit for a successful outcome started by his
predecessor has become a time-honored tradition. But that still does not make
it right.
It was Trump’s
pure braggadocio that earned him his Three Pinocchio’s, nothing else.
