THE ISLAMIC STATE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM

 

ISIL has proven that they are all uncivilized misfits that are not deserving to share this earth.

I have found it so interesting that the president has been criticized for his comments at the recent National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. 

In his reference to the burning to death in a cage of the Jordanian pilot, Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh by ISIL, President Obama said, “And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

Many of those that oppose the president, were apparently seeing in the president’s statement, an effort for his smearing of Christianity. Yes, many evils have been done in the name of God, but today apparently we are supposed to let Christians off the hook because the Crusades were 700 years ago. As they say, apparently it’s jut time to, “get over it”.

But the issues the president stated regarding the Jim Crow era of the South and the lynching and burning of blacks and immigrants was not 700 years ago.  American racists over the last 50-100 years have often cited the Bible to justify their atrocious acts. 

What many people fail to realize, and what the president was saying, is that what the ISIL terrorists are doing in murdering their captives has nothing to do with religion.  With the Jordanian pilot, both the victim and his killers were Sunni Muslims. The Islamic State may cruise into town under the rippling black banner of fanatical Islam, but its real heart beats on the basis of secular fascism.

 

 

ISIL’s atrocities are not the product of warped Islam, but rather of those that are only using the excuse of a religion to allow them to commit those atrocities. In reality, they are just one evolutionary tick away from those hundreds of years ago who went to the Coliseum for watching the killing of fellow human beings.

Any attempts to locate the ISIL’s soul of darkness in any particular religion is totally ridiculous. 

Take for example, Nazi Germany.  This nation was highly civilized before Hitler and his cronies went mad with their political power.  Germany’s music, its literature and its cinema before Hitler were excellent and bold, and believe it or not, Germans back then were very tolerant of gays and lesbians. But, in an historical micro-second, it changed and they began building bonfires, first for books and then fires for human beings.

Even the mass murders of the Jews was not an effort against a religion, but the whole Jewish race. It was referred to within the Nazi high command as “The Final Solution”.  It made no difference to the Nazis if a Jew was religious, or if a prisoner was secular or even a convert to Christianity. Just “being a Jew” was what doomed the Jewish race to Hitler’s followers, not in their religious beliefs.

The hideousness of ISIL just reminds us that evil continues to exists and that it also lurks inside of our historical memories. 

What the president was saying at the National Prayer Breakfast was that using the excuse of a religion to massacre fellow human beings is as old as time.  ISIS, ISIL, the Islamic State, or whatever they are called, they should never be referred to as having anything to do with Islam.  They are no different than the German Nazi’s.  They are soul-less, cold-blooded murderers.  It is as simple as that.
