THE REPUBLICAN’S “KLOWN KAR” IS ALIVE & WELL…BUT FOR HOW LONG?
…The Bombastic Texas Junior Senator,
Ted Cruz
Is the political influence of
Senator Ted Cruz finally starting to fade?
Well, it has
taken some time, but the Republican’s “Klown
Kar” is slowly, but surely, preventing it’s clowns from performing in the
center ring of the political circus.
For those that
do not know what the “Republican Klown
Kar” is, it is the small but ridiculous group of Republicans that makes it
into the nightly news cycles by making totally stupid and inane statements
about the president, the Democrats and basically just spreading their many lies
to the general public. You know, like
they do every night on the Fox Network.
Some, but not
all, of the past and current participants inside the GOP’s Klown Kar include: Alaska’s, Sarah Palin, Minnesota’s, Michele
Bachmann, Texas Senator, Ted Cruz, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Iowa’s, Steve King,
South Carolina’s, Joe Wilson, Illinois, Joe Walsh, Florida’s, Allen West and
Alabama’s, Mo Brooks.
Even though
Ms. Palin has officially been out of the Klown
Kar for some time, for her personal financial survival and in trying (but failing) to be continually
relevant, (and to earn more TV money), Sarah
continues to insert herself wherever and whenever she can in order to get on
TV. The bazaar Michele Bachmann is
finally leaving her office and it remains to be seen if she is going to pull
her own. “Palin approach”, by
inserting herself into conservative politics in the future. The political jerks, Joe Walsh and Allen West,
both only lasted for one term as GOP
US Representatives, so they are out.
But the Klown Kar is still alive and well today mainly due to one
individual. That individual being, the
Junior Senator from the great state of Texas, Senator Ted Cruz.
The good news
is that this US Senator, that was once so influential with the Tea Party conservative’s in the House, that he was sometimes referred to
by them as “Speaker Cruz”. But today, Senator Cruz seems to be losing
some of his political panache.
Senator Cruz, who
had opposed the “meaningless show vote”
that the lawmakers considered as an alternative to a direct confrontation on
Obama’s emigration actions. Cruz instead had declared that instead of a vote,
he wanted “a full-fledged constitutional
crisis,” even if it meant shutting down the US Government.
At a Tea Party rally in Washington, Senator
Cruz said this week, “Just about every
Republican candidate in the country campaigned saying, ‘If you elect us, we
will stop President Obama’s amnesty.
What I’m here urging my fellow Republicans to do is very, very simple:
Do what you said you would do.”
When Cruz had
launched a similar effort last year for fighting against Obamacare, Cruz had obtained broad support among the House’ Tea Party conservatives. He was then the key individual responsible
for forcing the House leadership to
set it up for the shutting down of the US government, which they did.
Compared to
how his followers have reacted in the past for supporting whatever Cruz
suggests, this time something extraordinary happened in response to Cruz’s
latest political bomb throwing. And that
happening was….absolutely nothing, and the House
went ahead with their “show vote”.
Speaker
Boehner even boasted that he was “proud
that the House acted without a threat
of a government shutdown.”
Only two of
the Klown Kar immigration
hard-liners, Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX)
and Steve King (R-IA), even showed up for Cruz’s Tea Party rally appearance.
Cruz’s backers in the House have
now virtually disappeared, and the Republican leadership is paying those
backers little mind anyway. If Cruz raises procedural objections to the latest
spending bill in the Senate, nothing will probably happen as he lacks the
necessary support from his fellow Republicans.
The
Republicans in the US Senate are very hesitant to even consider shutting down
the government after what they went through last time due to Senator Cruz’
previous efforts. Republican leaders
Mitch McConnell and John Barrasso, have even told the Wall Street Journal that they would “make sure the government is open and functioning.”
When asked if
he was concerned that perhaps his fellow Republicans were not listening to him,
the senator’s only response was that all Republicans should “honor our word” and “stop President Obama’s amnesty.” He made no additional outrageous comments
against the president as he usually does.
The current major
spending bill that, due to the Dems, Elizabeth Warren and Nancy Pelosi, their
latest stall could cause the Democrats to get blamed if the government shuts
down. That bill is also not supported by Senator Cruz.
But it is kind
of curious that Cruz doesn’t support this bill as it seriously increases the
amount the wealthy can contribute to political parties, and it totally guts the
Dodd-Frank regulations that limit the
power of major Wall Street
banks. These are all big favorites of
the conservatives, but this time, not Senator Cruz.
Apparently, since this spending bill is a compromise bill between the White House, some Democrats and the GOP, that reason alone is enough to
keep Senator Cruz from supporting it.
Another Klown Kar member, Rep. Mo Brooks, an
Alabama Republican had previously joined Cruz on all of his immigration
issues. But Brooks told Bloomberg News that “House leadership has surrendered to
President Obama on the illegal-alien issue.” However, Brooks made it clear that even
though he didn’t agree with this surrendering to the president, he wouldn’t do
as Senator Cruz would and shut down the government.
If a Klown Kar member like Mo Brooks is no
longer going to support the directions on immigration as designated by Senator
Cruz, could this Junior Senator from Texas be on his way to losing whatever
influence he may have previously held?
I guess that
one can only hope.
