MAYOR PETE GOES AFTER FOX ON THEIR OWN NETWORK
…The Mayor of South Bend, ID., Pete Buttigieg.
Pete Buttigieg goes after Fox's Tucker Carlson
and Laura Ingraham.
Chris Wallace, a Fox moderator had the South
Bend, Id. Mayor, Pete Buttigieg, on Fox News, and President Trump tweeted
that they wasted time having “Mayor Pete”
on the air. Of course, the president
always has to Tweet when Fox isn’t praising his butt. Trump obviously feels that giving any air
time to any Democratic is a waste of time.
Just because Fox & Friends kisses Trump’s
ass every morning, he basically thinks that all other news operations, including
TV, radio and even newspapers should have “Fake
News” in their name or banner title.
He has also suggested that “Fox
News” should be called, “Trump News”.
But “Mayor
Pete” is a convincing individual and he is knowable, well-spoken and an
excellent orator. He doesn’t hold back,
as he criticizes Fox, saying that the Fox “talking
head” Tucker Carlson, had said that “immigrants
made the United States dirtier,” and he noted that that the other Fox “talking head” Laura Ingraham, once “compared border detention centers for
migrant children to Summer Camps.” Yes,
the mayor emphasized that statement by repeating…….“SUMMER CAMPS!”
Per Mayor Pete, “There is a reason why anybody has to swallow hard and think twice
before participating in this [Fox] media ecosystem,”
Still, the mayor said he thinks that many
people who tune in to the network are doing so “in good faith” and that he wants to be willing to meet all voters,
wherever they are.
“There
are a lot of Americans who my party can’t blame if they are ignoring our
message, because they will never hear it if we don’t go on [Fox] and talk about
it," Buttigieg said.
You could see people in the Mayor’s audience
shaking their head in agreement with him when the mayor criticized the Fox
personnel for what they said that was both wrong and insulting.
When Wallace asked the mayor whether Trump
should be impeached, Buttigieg said there was no question that Trump’s behavior
was “beyond the pale,” but he said it
would be up to Congress to decide whether the president should be removed from
office.
Buttigieg, a military veteran, also accused
the Trump administration, in particular, national security adviser John Bolton,
of “saber-rattling” at both Venezuela
and Iran, and at the risk of leading the United States into a war.
When Wallace pointed out that his next question
wasn’t hypothetical, saying 6,000 women have third-trimester abortions each
year. Buttigieg noted that that
represented less than 1% of all women who have abortions.
“We’re talking about women who have perhaps chosen a name, women who
have purchased a crib,” he said.
Those women, he continued, probably had been
expecting to carry their babies to term but had received medical news that
forced them “to make an impossible,
unthinkable choice.”
“The
bottom line is, as horrible as that choice is, that woman, that family may seek
spiritual guidance, they may seek medical guidance, but that decision is not
going to be made any better, medically or morally, because the government is
dictating how that decision is going to be made.”
Buttigieg’s campaign had held firm to its
commitment to hold a town hall event on Fox News, which was scheduled before
Elizabeth Warren had publicly announced her decision to decline one. Other Democratic candidates have had mixed reactions
to the network, which because of the Fox bias to both Donald Trump and the GOP.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC)
has banned Fox from taking part in their primary debates.
When Wallace asked how Buttigieg would handle
Trump’s insults, attacks and tweets, the candidate started to respond with a statement,
but he stopped, took a deep breath and stated with a definite final
declaration: “The tweets are………I DON’T CARE! The audience
cheered, and at the end of the interview, the Fox audience ultimately gave
Buttigieg a rousing send-off with a standing ovation, which seemed to surprise Chris
Wallace. “Wow, a standing ovation,” Wallace said as they signed off.
Of course, per a jealous Trump Tweet:
Hard to believe that @FoxNews is wasting airtime on Mayor Pete, as Chris
Wallace likes to call him. Fox is moving more and more to the losing (wrong)
side in covering the Dems. They got dumped from the Democrats boring debates,
and they just want in. They forgot the people who got them there. Chris Wallace
said, “I actually think, whether you like his opinions or not, that Mayor Pete
has a lot of substance...fascinating biography.” Gee, he never speaks well of
me - I like Mike Wallace better...and Alfred E. Newman [Mayor Pete] will never
be President!
Trump is right that it would be a major
long-shot if “Mayor Pete” were to become
the Democratic nominee. But he has shown
something that the other Democratic candidates have failed to do, and that is
to go after some of the Fox dishonest statements, and to do it while on the Fox
Network.
Hopefully, more Democratic candidates will
also appear on Fox and will go after some of the fibs that are offered daily to
the Fox crowd on the Fox network.
