A.G. BARR, SHOWS THAT HE REALLY IS THE PRESIDENT’S “ROY COHN”

…Bill Barr, is supposed to be the “people’s lawyer”, but he isn’t

Robert Mueller has officially disagreed with the A.G.’s summary of Mueller’s 2 year investigation

All we got from A.G. Bill Barr’s testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee was that it is clear that now, we must hear directly from the special counsel, Robert Mueller III.

It was totally disgusting when asked by Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) about the special counsel’s report, the A.G. said: “I don’t want to characterize Bob’s thought process here.” However, he did characterize it, again, and again, and again.  Then, most strikingly, Barr then told a blatant lie about Mueller’s reaction to the attorney general’s efforts to portray the report as an exoneration of President Trump.  Barr has done that twice.  First in a four-page letter improperly summarizing the findings of the report, and then again in a brief news conference shortly before the 448-page document was made public.

Under the Whitehouse questioning about the special counsel’s report, the attorney general said: "Mueller had never told me that the expression of the findings was inaccurate,” Barr stated during his testimony. “I certainly am not aware of any challenge to the accuracy of the findings.”

This is totally false as Mueller had sent Barr a letter in March saying that Barr has misrepresented the context of Muller’s report.  That letter was released by Mueller to New York Times and The Post the day before Barr's testimony.

Any fair read of the Mueller report, even in its redacted form, shows that it is not what Barr has portrayed it to be.  While the special counsel did not find any evidence that the president and his campaign colluded with Russia for swaying the results of the 2016 election, Mueller did cite 10 instances in which Trump broke the law with his attempts to obstruct the investigation.

However, thanks to the reporters at The Post, we now know that Robert Mueller has personally expressed his objections to Barr’s original 4 page summary letter.

Bill Barr has now shown that he truly is what the president has asked for when Trump asked: “Where is my Roy Cohn?”  Cohn was Trump’s mentor and personal lawyer before he was disbarred by the New York Supreme Court for unethical and unprofessional actions.  Barr has become the “Roy Cohn like lawyer” in support of the president.  But the A.G. is supposed to be the “people’s lawyer”, not the president’s personal lawyer.

“The summary 4 page letter the [Justice] Department sent to Congress and released to the public late in the afternoon of March 24 did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions,” Mueller has written. “There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation. This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations.”

Basically, Mueller is saying that the A.G. is mis-representing the results of the special counsel’s report.  As a member of the Justice Department, Mueller knows that their unofficial rule says that they do not indict a sitting president.  But the report does give 10 instances where the president obstructed justice.  The House Judicial Committee, if they chose, could use those 10 examples to support an impeachment investigation of the president.   Mueller was leaving that option to the US Congress.

The reality is that Bill Barr has not only mischaracterized Mueller’s report, he has doubled down by mis-characterizing the special counsel’s meanings in his findings. The attorney general has now proved beyond any doubt how little regard he has for his own credibility, even when he is under oath.  The Post will now be assigning multiple “Pinocchio’s” the A.G. and he could be competing with the president in that area.

Enough is enough.  Robert Mueller and the former White House lawyer, Don McGahn, must now testify before Congress.

The sooner, the better.
