TRUMP’S “TWEETS” DEMONSTRATE HOW WORRIED IS THE PRESIDENT

…Duncan Hunter & his wife, Margaret

Trump doesn’t have the cojones to fire his Attorney General.

It is my hope that Donald Trump’s lies and his use of Twitter will eventually do him in.

In fact, over Labor Day, Trump both tweeted and lied at the same time.

Trump tweeted: “Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well-publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff......”

The last comment about a “Good job” is a sarcastic reference to his embattled A.G., Jeff Sessions.

The two Republican Congressman he is referring to are Reps. Chris Collins of New York and Duncan Hunter of California, they just happen to be the president’s two earliest congressional endorsers.

Collins was charged with insider trading, and accused by federal prosecutors of tipping off his son about a biotechnology company’s failed drug trial to avoid significant investment losses. The Trump “lie” is that the  alleged tip-off took place, not during the Obama administration as Trump’s tweet suggests, but in 2017, after Trump had become president.

In the other case, Duncan Hunter was charged with using more than $250,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses, including family vacations, school tuition and theater tickets.  Even Rep. Hunter’s, wife was charged with spending campaign money on personal expenses.  This charge came from investigations in Trump’s era, not Obama’s era, and these individuals are both long time Republicans.

How Trump has decided he can just lie, and blame the Obama administration is another example of Trump blaming someone else for things that occur in his administration.

The Chris Collins tip-off to his son actually occurred during an outdoor party on the White House lawn when Collins, who was on the board of the drug company in question, was notified by phone that the drug trial had failed.  There were video’s made during the party that showed Collins on the phone, and his phone records showed that during that party, Collins tried to call and warn his son 5 times before the call was answered.  Because of Collins tip-off, his son, and the son’s soon-to-be father-in-law, were able to sell their large amounts of stock before the failed drug trial was made public.  The son, and his soon-to-be father-in-law, held so much of the drug company’s stock, that they were then able to avoided major financial losses by being tipped-off of the failed drug trial.

Representative Collins has since suspended his reelection campaign, while Hunter is still running for reelection, as he is alleging political bias by the Justice Department.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NB), one of the few in the GOP that will criticize the president and his tweets stated. “The United States is not some banana republic with a two-tiered system of justice, one for the majority party and one for the minority party. These two men have been charged with crimes because of real evidence.” he said in a statement.

A few minutes after his tweet on Sessions, Trump then added a second tweet attacking former FBI director James Comey, falsely asserting that Democrats did not like Comey until Trump fired him in 2017.

The Democrats, none of whom voted for Jeff Sessions, must love him now. Same thing with Lyin’ James Comey. The Dems all hated him, wanted him out, thought he was disgusting - UNTIL I FIRED HIM! Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact. Really sick!”  (Very wrong)

His tweet on his own A.G., Jeff Sessions, was particularly harsh, even for this president who expresses his feelings on Twitter to the irritation of his staff. The tweet indicates that the president feels that his attorney general should base legal actions on how it could affect the president and the Republican Party’s electoral success. It also indicates that political popularity should influence the A.G.'s charges.  This is all so wrong.

Our system has always been that there is always a separation between the Executive White House and the Justice Department.  Unfortunately, this ignorant president disregards what our founders had decided by the president giving orders to the A.G.  Recently, for the first time, Sessions pushed back saying publicly that he will not allow political manipulation of the department.  This is the law.

Repeatedly trying to pervert DOJ into a weapon to go after his adversaries, and now shamelessly complaining that DOJ should protect his political allies to maintain his majority in the midterms, is nothing short of an all-out assault on the rule of law,” stated the former deputy attorney general Sally Yates.

But because of Trump’s attacks on the A.G., Trump’s efforts to force his attorney general to quit his post after Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, they have become a part of the team of Robert Mueller’s obstruction investigation into the president.

In addition, also under investigation is Trump’s conduct in dismissing James Comey.  In particular, why he fired him and whether he pressured him to be generous to Michael Flynn, the president’s former national security adviser. Flynn early on pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

As usual, the White House has had no comment on the president’s tweets or his illegal actions.
