AMERICA ISN’T THE ONLY COUNTRY OFFENDED BY DONALD TRUMP
…Others around the globe also see
Donald Trump as a “Clown”.
From the Chinese to down-under,
there are many that are offended by “The Donald”.
I have been
wondering how America is looked at by other countries with all the bazaar
goings-on of the GOP and especially
of Donald Trump..
Actually,
these same type of crazy political goings-on also happen in other
democracies. But as in Great Britain,
Germany and others, these arguments and comments usually go on behind closed
doors, and it isn’t until things get down to the final issues and candidates, that all is available to the mainstream media.
As one international news reporter wrote, “When it
comes to Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, we may have outdone
ourselves. The GOP frontrunner is a woman-hating reality TV star whose campaign
has mostly focused on his lust for ethnic cleansing. The global reaction to
Trump mania has been a sense of total disgust; Trump is the native son of a
country that worships selfishness above empathy, corporate interests over
justice and notoriety over prestige. As French author Marie-Cecile Naves
put it to Politico, ‘Trump represents the America we love to hate…He is our
negative mirror image, a man we see as brutal, who worships money and lacks
culture — someone who lets us feel a bit superior about being European.’ “
So, here are
some of the comments about Mr. Trump from other countries around the world:
From Russia With Love……
Per Trump
about Russia: “I was over in Moscow two
years ago, and I will tell you — you can get along with those people…you can
make deals with those people. Obama can’t.”
With Trump’s somewhat Pro-Putin position, he has now landed on an "enemies list" in the Ukraine
for his pro-Russia comments in the press.
A Russian Insider recently suggested a Trump presidency could
be good for Russia, since Trump will negotiate based on pragmatics instead of
emotion or ideology. A Kremlin-friendly publication also praised the fact that
Trump “harbors none of the ridiculous and
hysterical anti-Russo-phobia, which of course is a hallmark of every other
American Republican candidate.”
From Across the Border in
Mexico…..
A Mexican
comic book “El Peso Hero” shows its
hero slugging Donald Trump in the face on its latest cover. Most Mexicans have a real disdain for Trump
from his blackmailing Mexico for paying for a border fence, to calling
undocumented Latinos “rapists”, and
who are “bringing us drugs and crime.” In addition, major negative comments were made when
Trump vowed to implement a mass deportation of millions of undocumented people
including their American children. But
the best shot at Trump is that the famous Mexican artist Dalton Javier Avalos Ramirez has designed a special Donald Trump
piñata so people can fulfill their dreams of bashing Trump with a stick.
(We need to import some of those piñatas.)
(We need to import some of those piñatas.)
From the Masses in China…..
Every
Trump speech talks about how China is killing America, and he claims “the Chinese are “ripping us off left and
right”, and “their diplomats
[visiting Washington] ought to be taken to McDonald’s instead of to
state dinners”. As one Chinese
national quipped on social media: “This
guy’s hair is so strange. I thought it was photo-shopped!” One China state newspaper put
it this way: “The only theme of Trump’s
speech for running for president is: I am really very rich!” The
spokespeople for the Chinese government have been totally
dismissive, rebutting his claims that Chinese policies take away American
jobs. But they really hit Trump hard
when those in power in China say, “We care
more about the opinions of those Americans who actually matter.”
From the Country Down Under…..
Some
Australians have a cynical reason to root for Trump. According to their newspapers, Trump
distracts them from the awfulness of their own prime minister, Tony Abbott. As
one Aussie put it, “Trump would take the
heat off Abbott so no Australian ever needs to pretend to be a New Zealander
ever again.” Another claimed electing Trump “…would be so embarrassing for America, they’d all be saying
things like ‘Ugh, we elected this guy????’ ” Sidney Morning Herald columnist Julie Szego wrote that
both [Trump & Abbott] represent ugly aspects of conservative values,
particularly a high-profile disrespect of women. "Trump’s center-stage battle
against Megyn Kelly at the first Republican debate caused decent human beings
to recoil in horror." This is just as
they say about what Szego calls Abbott’s “inability
to self-censor his natural tendency to link women with domesticity.”
It’s just amazing that there could be two
Trump-like individuals on this same planet at the same time.
From the Land of Volkswagens…….
Trumps
comments against immigrants not only ignores that Trump is descended from
immigrants, but that he also married two of them. (His first spouse Ivana was born in the Czech Republic, and he is
currently married to Melania, from Slovenia.) But his Grandfather Drumpf,
made big money in the US and was denied when he tried to move back to his
native Germany. The story goes that
Drumpf’s propensity for corner-cutting and deceiving people seems to have resulted in a grandson that erects his own 100-story "Golden Calve" idols in New York City. This is exactly the flamboyance that fuels
the German distaste for “The Trump Show,”
as Trump’s sound-bite campaign is called by the German tabloid Bild. A few weeks after Trump
announced his candidacy, the Suddeutsche
Zeitung newspaper was feeling highly confused by American
politics: “Weird, egomaniac,
racist…yet he leads in the polls; how can that be?” the paper asked. It's an excellent question.
Finally, from the Champagne of
Nations….
For a nation
known for subtleties, the French Liberation
Newspaper’s cover story was a
blatant: “Trump: The American Nightmare.” The article declared Trump to be “vulgar and opportunistic.” Back in January, Trump sparked widespread
outrage when he blamed the Charlie Hebdo
murders on strict French gun laws.
Trump’s nationalism and tendency to make outrageous comments led a
columnist at Le Figaro to call
Trump the “American Le Pen”. This is a comparison to Jean-Marie Le Pen,
the notorious patriarch of France’s far-right extremists. Over the past year, Le Pen has gone off the
deep end by denying that the Holocaust occurred. He also sings the praises of
Nazi-collaborationist Vichy government occupiers who deported thousands of Jews
during WWII. To compare Donald Trump to someone so disgusting as Le Pen
pretty much tells you how the French feel about Donald Trump’s opinions.
So there’s a
small thumb-nail of how Donald Trump is regarded around the world.
