SCOTT WALKER’S SHAKEY PAST CONTINUES TO HAUNT HIM
The problem is that not enough
political parties are expressing outrage.
I have been
exposing the negative aspects of Wisconsin
Governor, Scott Walker, ever since he was
taken in by a phone call from a fake Koch Brother that was recorded and
released. And I was then surprised when
the people of Wisconsin did not recall Walker after what he did against the
union workers in Wisconsin. But when as
the governor, you have the support of a Republican state House and Senate, I guess
that’s just par for the course.
Well, some
others that have been following Governor Walker’s past activities have now
shown that the corrupt Wisconsin Economic Development
Corporation (WEDC), which Walker created and has chaired,
was responsible for handing out more than
$124 million to Wisconsin businesses without any formal staff review.
A Wisconsin State
Senator Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay) has called for the closure of the troubled
WEDC recently after it was revealed that WEDC officials failed to perform the
critical underwriting for millions in taxpayer supported loans it made to 27
companies. “WEDC has been an unmitigated disaster from the start. It has been one
scandal after another, squandered millions of dollars and failed to produce any
significant numbers of jobs,” said Hansen a longtime critic. “There is no way to justify its existence any
longer. It is time to end WEDC. It is beyond repair and the taxpayers deserve
better.”
This
Republican, Walker, is expected to formally launch his presidential campaign by
mid-July. But he has been hounded by
troubles with this quasi-private jobs agency he created shortly after taking
office in 2011.
An internal
review released Friday showing that WEDC gave out 27 award contracts to 24
companies between July 2011 and June 2013, and it was all done without a
staff review. This was discovered during a review of 371 awards WEDC made in
its first two years of operation.
The documents
detailing the awards were made public late last week, all in advance of an
up-coming WEDC board meeting for discussing one troubled unsecured loan that
went to a failing company owned by a major Walker donor.
Please note
that all of this questionable activity was all carried out under Walker's
direct oversight.
What is
amazing is that none of the local Wisconsin papers are publishing any of this,
which is information that is readily available to the public. Incredibly, the Sunday Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had
nothing on these stories and the Sunday Wisconsin State Journal in Madison
had nothing….? Now how did that happen?
Should
Governor Walker become the GOP’s
choice as their 2016 presidential nominee, one can only hope that some of the
many stories of Walker’s questionable activities in his climb to the state’s
governorship will come to light.
But at this
point, hope is all there is out there.
