ANOTHER “FOOT-IN-MOUTH” EXAMPLE FROM THE GOP!
This is only one of many examples
of the Republican’s in congress making stupid statements.
I just love it
when the conservatives in congress talk about their views on what is best for
Americans as they regularly open their mouths and insert various parts of their
anatomy.
As an example,
the Republican Congressman Cresent Hardy, while speaking to a Libertarian
Party Expo in Las Vegas, Rep. Hardy inserted his foot-firmly-in-his-mouth
when he basically stated that, “People
with disabilities are a drain on society.”
Yep, he
actually did say that.
He came to
this conclusion while talking about his family.
“I have three children,” Hardy explains.
“One of them is summa cum laude and two
were magnum cum laude. The other one, he didn’t need an education. He works for
Raytheon, smarter than all the rest. He works hard, he builds things that are
genius. Some people have that ability.
But they all work hard. They are
raising their own families,” he continued. “They will not be a drain on society. Hopefully they will never have some disability that causes them to be a
drain on society”
Needless to
say, in a district where Obama had won by 10 points, the Democrats in Nevada
have some prominent prospects that are running to unseat Rep. Hardy, and they
had something to say about his comments.
In fact, the
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson, Zach Hudson, offered the following:
“If Cresent Hardy wants to talk about
‘drains on society,’ he should point a finger at his buddy, the deadbeat
rancher [that doesn’t recognize the United States as his country], Cliven Bundy, not at disabled children. Hardy
has also compared non-discrimination laws to ‘segregation,’ he agreed with Mitt
Romney that 47% of the American
people are ‘freeloaders,’ and now he’s called children with disabilities a
‘drains on society.’ Cresent Hardy’s comments are outrageous and he owes
an immediate apology to every Nevadan with a disability.”
If Cresent
Hardy is representative of what the GOP
wants to offer as their Representatives for hard working Americans, then I say
“send them on” and the Republican
Party will continue to shrink as they have for the last 40 years.
