Disgusting analogies, and bad math about political voting, that’s my Rushbo!

For years I have written about, and used, the blowhard Rush Limbaugh, as the perfect example of what not to be in our American world of politics.  He is usually the most wonderful example that can be used at any time for the wrong side of any possible political position.

Well, he has done it once again, and this time, it makes his past comment of when he called the Georgetown law student, Sandra Fluke, a slut and prostitute, (as she was testifying to a congressional committee), that was like Rush’s childs play when comparing it to his latest transgression.

Yes, Rush Limbaugh is now comparing the latest limiting of the filibuster reform voting, to the raping of women.

This is the same man that thought that women’s birth control pills worked like when a man takes Viagra E.D.  That being, that women had to take their birth control pills every time they were going to have sex.  This highly ignorant man actually tried to compare the getting rid of the 60 vote limit for breaking a senate filibuster, to voting on whether it was “acceptable for men to rape women”….?

And on top of that, Rush also botched the idea what, “majority rules” means, which is the basis of all real voting democracies.  I will explain this issue a bit later.

What the self-proclaimed “Great One” tried to do this time was to denigrate the latest move by the Democratic Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, for getting past the constant obstructiveness of the Senate Minority Republicans.  Yes, these same GOP Senators that have used the filibuster almost as much over the past four years as had previously been used over the past 200 years.

What was even worse was, this change didn’t have to happen. 

The Senate Majority leader Reid and the Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, had made a previous agreement that instead of getting rid of the 60 vote filibuster limit, McConnell had agreed to not use the filibuster except in extreme situations. 

 

Obviously, the constant blocking of agency and judge nominations by the Republicans, that had been routinely agreed upon in the senate for the previous Republican presidents, was not an extreme situation.  But McConnell and the Republicans still used a filibuster to stop President Obama’s nominations. 

 

Therefore, the Democratic Majority Leader, plus 51 of the 53 Democratic senators plus 1 Independent had finally been pushed to voting for the “Nuclear Option” which was the dropping of the 60 vote rule that the Republicans had been abusing over the past four years.

So, now, instead of requiring 60 votes to break a filibuster, it only takes a simple majority vote of 51 or more to break a filibuster, which is what is required as stated in the US Constitution. 

You see, most Americans don’t understand that the “Filibuster” used by the US Senate for blocking a bill in the senate, is a total invention of the US Senate and their rules committee.  It is not even mentioned in the US Constitution.

But, back to Rushbo.

When Rush found out that the Democrats had dropped the filibuster 60 vote rule, Rush was beside himself.  And when “Rush is bedside himself”, he says and does stupid things.  I mean, even more stupid things than what he usually spouts on the air waves.

Rush started his so called “analogy” by saying, “What if there was a law said that men cannot rape women.”  Then he stated, “but some of the men wanted to change the rule.”  However, said Rush, the voting rule was that it took 6 out or 10 votes to change the law, and he said, “let’s say there were only 5 men that wanted to change the law to say it was OK to rape women.”  Therefore, for a long time, they were never able to change the rule. 

 

But then the leader of the group changed the voting rules, and Rush said, “It now only took a 5 vote majority to change the law saying that it was OK to rape women.” 

 

So apparently, they then voted accordingly to approve raping women.

Yes, this is the so-called analogy that Rush used to tell his brain-dead listeners what had occurred to the filibuster voting change in the US Senate.

First, it is appalling that Rushbo had to use such a disgusting example for telling his lame story.  There are unlimited examples of other acceptable analogies he could have used, but Rush always goes for that which is the most gross and disgusting, and he was successful in this particular endeavor.

But Rush was also very poor in understanding basic math and the term “majority”.  Five out of 10 votes is obviously not a majority.  But that doesn’t matter to the “current Republican leader without any authority”.  In fact, Rush then told his audience that the, “Majority could also be changed to 3 out of 10 voters.”

Does Rush really think that 3 out of 10 is a “Majority”? 

I guess if he thinks women have to take a pill every time they have sex to prevent pregnancy, for him, 3 out of 10, just could be a “majority”.
