IN HIS FACEBOOK RANT, TRUMP AMPLIFIED HIS DELUSIONS

…Trump and his rant on Facebook

On Facebook, Trump was able to cram 4 weeks of delusions into 46 minutes.

There is one issue that is becoming more and more evident from the president’s election loss.  We are now convinced that Donald J. Trump is not playing with a full deck..

The proof of this is the 46 minute rant that Trump posted on Facebook.  This may be the most important speech I’ve ever made,” Trump said at the start of his lengthy, angry complaint.

“It may be the most impotent speech you’ve ever made,” The late night host, Colbert has stated. He continued: “Because it was just another rambling mass of lies that lasted a full 46 minutes. My big complaint? He should have done this a week ago. Not because he said anything worth hearing, but at least the people who canceled a big family Thanksgiving could have pretended they were still eating with their crazy and racist uncle.”

As stated, in reality, Trump used his 46 minutes to distill his last four weeks of rants.

Trump actually had the presumption to go after those that would suggest that his receiving less votes than his competition, did they actually mean that he shouldn’t serve another four years as president???  You betcha.

Since the polls closed on Nov. 3rd, Trump’s public response to his loss has been one of his total frustration.  It was like a spoiled child being told that he can’t do something he wants to do.  Some part of this is his effort to lash out at President-elect Joe Biden and to go after the Democrats even more broadly.  But there’s obviously something deeper and more psychological at play.  A much darker refusal and frustration that can’t as easily be countered rationally.

For all of the reporting about how Trump understands that he lost the race and is discussing a potential run in 2024, the Facebook item did not convey any calculated assessment of the situation.  It was simply a rant.  Plain and simple!  It was Trump simply unable to gracefully accept the nature of the world around him.

Again, there wasn’t anything new to it. It was an example of so much of the garbage that we’ve been hearing so often.  It presented no coherent case of the existence of any fraud.  It instead, substituted accusations as his idea of proof.  Having hundreds of people make unfounded allegations isn’t proof of wrongdoing.  Having one person make hundreds of unfounded allegations isn’t proof, but Trump’s goal isn’t proving each point.  It’s getting his American supporters to accept his broader point: That Something Must Be Done!

But that “something” isn’t at all clear.  At first it was to block the counting of the ballots that were showing he lost key states such as Pennsylvania. Then it was to block the certification of votes in states such as Michigan. Then it was to try to get state legislatures to appoint new, Trump-friendly electors to the electoral college.  Then it was to get his case to the Supreme Court where something magical would slice through the loss of the decision of the millions of American voters

In the Facebook speech, Trump even  made vague demands that someone, anyone, should intervene….?

“This election was rigged. Everybody knows it,” he said. “I don’t mind if I lose an election, but I want to lose an election fair and square. What I don’t want to do is have it stolen from the American people. That’s what we’re fighting for, and we have no choice to be doing that.”  “We already have the proof. We already have the evidence, and it’s very clear,” he continued. “Many people in the media… and even judges… so far have refused to accept it. They know it’s true. They know it’s there. They know who won the election, but they refuse to say you’re right. Our country needs somebody to say, ‘You’re right.’ ”

But he’s not at all, “right”.  His evidence is nothing more than a bunch of allegations from some parties claiming that something unprovable occurred. The media does know who won the election.  It was Joe Biden.  But, for whatever reason, Trump cannot bring himself to believe or to say that.

The essential question of the moment is how far Trump wants to go?  Was the speech a lengthy vent, an airing of grievances, or was it a sign that he will continue to push the boundaries of what our electoral system allows?

The important question is whether his enthusiastic base of supporters will recognize the difference between those ideas, and what will they do about it?

We could be in for a new form of a civil war if Trump has falsely convinced his supporters that he really won.

Only time will tell if the country is as divided by this delusional liar and the right-wing media as it appears.

Hopefully, after Trump and his family have left the White House, all will settle down and the Biden administration can get to dealing with both the pandemic, the results of the pandemic, and the divide that this one man has caused a great nation.
