THE SAD TRUTH ABOUT DONALD JOHN TRUMP

…This man’s legacy will be as the worst US President in U.S. History

The nation’s democracy is in potential peril due to the presidency of Donald Trump

The night that it was finally announced that Donald Trump had been elected as the US president, a Russian-American Journalist, Masha Gussen wrote that, “We have lost.  We have come to the edge of the abyss .  We are in greater danger than at any time in the last century.  The president-elect has made his intentions clear and it would be immoral to pretend otherwise. We must band together to defend the laws, institutions and ldeals on which this country is based.  You must believe this man.   He means every word such as when his crowd yells out ‘Lock Her Up’.  Institutions will not save you!”

She was so right.

The point that this Russian-American is trying to make here, is one that she has personally witnessed in her home country and in Europe.

As an example, Vladimir Putin took only one year to take over the Russian media.  He took 4 years to dismantle their electoral system and when the Russian judicial system collapsed, nobody noticed.

Another example was that the capture of Turkey’s institutions was even faster than Russia and Turkey's authoritarian leader was at one time, “The Democrat that was to lead Turkey into the European Union!”

But then, let’s also not forget the country of Poland.  Poland, in less than a year, has totally  undone half of a quarter-century’s accomplishments in building their constitutional democracy.

Yes, the United States has much stronger institutions than had Germany in the 1930’s, or does Russia today.  The problem is that these institutions today are operating under our political culture, not under our laws.  These operations, even those under our laws, they depend on basically operating based on the “good faith” of their personnel to fulfill their overall purpose.

Donald Trump does not operate on any good faith and he holds himself above all US law.  Institutions such as the free press, the media, the Justice Department, the State Department, all of these operations can all collapse if they are not supported by the American public.

European history has shown that societies can break, that democracies can fall, ethics can collapse and ordinary people can find themselves literally standing over death pits with a gun in their hands.  It has happened before.

It is possible, that due to our history, we Americans might think that our democratic heritage automatically protects us from such threats.  That is not so.

If you just follow President Trump’s actions and his many lies, it should convince you that to think that we are automatically protected from his threats, this would be a misguided reflex.

Today, we are no wiser than those past Europeans who saw democracy turn into fascism, or to Nazism, or even communism, and all during the past 20th century.

We as Americans, should instead learn from those European’s experiences and obviously, now is the perfect time to do so.

We Americans must not freely give in to President Trump’s authoritarianism.  To do that is just teaching Mr. Trump that he can get away with his using the power of the presidency any way he wants!

The president is using his GOP Senate acquittal as permission to take retribution and to punish those that he feels did him, and his supporters, wrong.  In addition, his Attorney General, Bill Barr, has decided to go right along with the president.

That presidential retribution and punishment is why the president continues to dismiss all those that testified against him in his impeachment trial.

The GOP senators should all be criticized for the guilt of their allowing the president to trample all over the US House of Representatives responsibility to do their job of countering illegal actions by the executive branch.  Someone has to say “NO”!

We Americans must defend our institutions from the president's moves.  We cannot depend on them defending themselves.  As we have seen in Europe, they can fall or collapse if they are not defended by the people they serve.

That means supporting our free press, our media and all those departments in our federal and state governments that we depend on to support the longest living democratic experiment on the globe.

We must see and approve the actions that were taken by those attorneys that resigned from the Justice Department when the president and the Attorney General illegally became involved with the Roger Stone case.  That is a perfect example of a move against the president and in support of one of our critical institutions.  The president and his A.G. broke the law, and the attorneys chose not to support their moves.

Hopefully, enough Americans will recognize the president for the illegal Mob Boss that he has become.

There is a reason that so many of those that have been close to Donald John Trump are currently either residing in jail, or have been indicted under federal charges.
