NRA SPOKESPERSON SAYS AMERICAN MEDIA LOVES MASS SHOOTINGS
….The cover of the NRA
spokesperson’s new book.
On TV, the NRA spokesperson, Dana Loesch,
wore a tightfitting dress and 6” heels, while holding her personal AR-15.
Talk about
disgusting!
Funerals for
the 17 Florida students and faculty were barely begun before the rhetoric on
the right, and from the NRA descended
into pure manure.
It was
unfortunate that the largest annual event for NRA and the nation’s conservatives had to occur last week That event was CPAC, the annual Conservative
Political Action Conference, a gathering of the extreme right. You know, the ones who continue
to feast on miss-information.
Speaking to
the mostly young impressionable conservative crowd, the politicians and
officials from the National Rifle
Association went ballistic over the recent talk of sensible gun laws.
Low points included characterizing the mainstream media as loving the
sensationalism of mass shootings and the liberals as wanting to advance its socialist
agenda.
To show how
directionless this group was, after the president gave one of his basic “Look how great I am campaign type speeches”
at the conference, the CPAC crowd
gave the president a 93% approval
rating….sheesh.
It really
showed that the right is continuing to go into dangerous areas where fewer and
fewer people can agree with their ideology.
Is this the best that the GOP
can do? It appears that it is.
I ask this as
someone who grew up with guns, and I currently live in a house with guns. I know how to shoot and I don’t object to
hunting for food and I support target and skeet shooting as reasonable
hobbies. I also have friends that
collect guns, but they also have a properly designed and sturdy, locked gun lockers.
The NRA is back to saying that to outlaw
any gun, and even outlawing the “Bump-Stocks”
that can turn a semi-automatic gun into a machine gun, this is just one move
they say that will begin the government taking away everybody’s guns. (BTW:
Bump-Stocks were what was used in the killing of 58, and wounding 459 festival
goers in Las Vegas last year.)
And this is
the #1 lie about the government that they always revert to when the winds of gun regulation start blowing
at any restriction on guns.
The NRA and American gun owner groups have
no explanation for why the United States is the only country that has on-going
mass shootings, especially in schools and churches…..?
But no other
country in the world has this problem.
And no other
country allows people access to lethal weapons so easily as in America. No other country has 2 guns for every person
in the country, many of which are military style weapons that were designed for
one purpose. The killing of other
humans.
I am neither
anti-gun nor a socialist, which is what the NRA
says about anyone that wants sensible gun regulations.
On the other
hand, if I were a woman, I do not believe I would wear a tightfitting dress and
6” heels, while holding my very own AR-15, as did the NRA spokesperson, Dana Loesch, on TV.
This latest National Rifle Associate spokesperson
once wrote a well visited “motherhood
blog”, but that changed when she became the vocal advocate for firearms
ownership.
Ms.Loesch,
first gained prominence as a “conservative
radio host. But she is the one that
had started the NRA’s latest rant
that, “Members of the media love mass
shootings. You guys love it. I’m not saying that you love the tragedy, but I am
saying that you love the TV ratings. Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you
and many of the legacy media in the back.”
This has now
become a regular NRA “talking point”.
Loesch has
also stated that, “Black mothers are
crying every day and you don’t see town halls for them.” Loesch was obviously making a direct reference to all the gun killings in Chicago.
Her point? That Chicago’s deaths
by handgun far outnumber the totals by AR-15 or other semi-automatic military
style weapons.
She doesn’t
seem to understand whether it's Black mothers losing their kids in Chicago, or a
mentally disturbed white male killing former school mates in Florida, they are
still a number of senseless death of innocent people that would only have
happened because they killer had easy access to an military style weapon.
To segregate
grieving parents by race as Loesch has done, this essentially mocks the mothers
we’ve witnessed and is totally disgusting. To applaud such distorted
propaganda should be beneath any serious adult concerned enough with mass
assaults.
The blow-hard,
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), criticized CNN’s
town hall as an “infomercial,” and
Cruz said calls for new restrictions were “tiresome
as are so many people these days”. “Every
time you see a horrific crime, people in the media and Democratic politicians
immediately try to leap on it to advance their agenda.,” Cruz says that this “Strip away the Second Amendment rights from law-abiding citizens.”
How in the
hell, does the media showing the horrific results of a school massacre of young
high school students strip away anyone’s 2nd Amendment
rights???? That is ridiculous.
So, what would
this Texas ass……errr, senator suggest?
Should the media just ignore that a metal case of a young man that ended the
lives of 17 students and teachers?
As they
should, the media follows news. Obviously, a school massacre qualifies as news.
And, yes, people want to know more as a way of seeking solutions.
But this
right-wing hating of the media, especially when the US President calls real
news, “fake news”, this is how the Republicans pass the buck.
And remember, this is the same idiot Texas senator
that cost we tax-payers billions when he personally caused the government to shut down. Cruz doesn’t seem to understand that you can’t talk about real personal freedom,
while you also making arguments that basically would gut the First Amendment.
And this
attitude was obviously seconded by the longtime NRA chief executive Wayne
LaPierre who cited that the Democrats’ “socialist
agenda as usual, wasted not one second to exploit tragedy for political gain.”
In other
words, according to the NRA, America is either on the slippery slope to
becoming a 3rd world country, or everybody needs to gets an AR-15
for survival.
It is true
that the NRA’s LaPierre may sometimes have valid points. But when he, his spokesperson, Loesch speaks
in tongues of conspiratorial accusations, they are not to be taken seriously.
The reality is
that the showdown is now between the NRA
and those almost voting age children who have just buried their friends,
brothers, sisters, teachers and their coach.
If nothing is done from this horrific event, that starts to deal with
the nation’s school shootings, this country is in serious trouble.
Out of respect
for the dead, the wounded and those grieving, the NRA and the adults in this country need to stop acting like spoiled
children.
