HOW CAN VP WANNABEES SUPPORT THEIR UNQUALIFIED CANDIDATE?
…The potential VP running mate, New
Jersey Governor, Chris Christie
GOP VP candidates are running to
support one of the most politically ignorant presidential candidates.
Since tomorrow
is when Donald Trump says he’s going to announce his choice for a VP running
mate, I just had to show how much ignorance there is coming out of this current
Republican candidate.
About a week
ago, Donald Trump pledged that he would defend Articles, I, II, and Article XII
of the US Constitution. In fact, he declared
he would defend ALL of the Articles of the US Constitution. Yessiree, The
Donald swears that he will defend these Articles to his last breath.
Well I’m sorry
Donald, but there is no Article XII of the US Constitution.
Now, some
Republicans are trying to save their candidate’s ass by saying that he must
have just confused Constitutional Amendments with Articles. Well, the XII (12th) Amendment is
the one where it says that in a presidential election, the state’s voters will
be voting for both a president and a vice president at the same time.
I was not
aware that there was some kind of on-going issue of the 12th
Amendment needing to be defended…..?
But I digress……
It has become
apparent that for those top three potential GOP VP candidates, they are all three running to support and join
one of the most politically ignorant candidates to ever run for the most
powerful position in the world.
To emphasize this
statement, here is what each of the three potential VP running mates have said
about Donald Trump:
From the mouth
of the former Speaker of the House, Newt
Gingrich, he is the ex-Speaker that had to leave his position in total disgrace.
To quote the official document of his
removal, “The Speaker was engaged in
conduct that did not reflect creditably on the House of Representatives.” Newt then left via a “plea bargain”, where he agreed to pay a fine of $300,000 for his false
claim of having tax exempt status.
So, here is
what Newt had to say in support of Donald Trump, hoping that he will be picked
as Trump’s running mate.: “I know of no
example in American history of a moment where the leader and the American
people came together as fast as they have in the last year with Donald Trump.”
As to the second
individual on Trump’s short list for a VP running mate, here he is, one of the
key individuals in the “Bridgegate
Scandal”, New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie. For the George Washington bridge scandal, this is where multiple individuals that were
associated with the governor have already been indicted. But here is Christie’s comment about The Donald: “He is
the person who I firmly believe will serve this country best.”
And finally,
for the third individual on the short VP list, here is the Republican Governor
of Indiana, Mike Pence. Yes, the same
Mike Pence that is best known for signing a bill that has cost his state millions
of dollars and has also lost many new jobs for his state.
Governor Pence
signed into state law the RFRA, That’s the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that cost the
city of Indianapolis 12 major conventions and up to $60 million
in lost economic impact. The basics of
the bill would allow Hoosiers to discriminate against
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people on the basis of religion. Days later, a so-called "fix" was signed into law to clarify
that the state law was not intended to override civil rights protection. Even with the “fix”, many corporations have still decided to not do business in, or
relocate to Indiana.
But the
Indiana Governor has said the following about Donald Trump in hoping he is
chosen as the VP running mate: “He
[Trump] is someone who has connected with everyday Americans like no one since
Ronald Reagan.”
Some things
never change, and in this case, these potential VP running mates are heaping ridiculous
praise on their party’s presidential nominee. This process is usually only
mildly embarrassing, but when the presidential candidate is Donald Trump, the drooling
over the candidate has become absolutely repulsive.
When these
individuals praise a candidate like Trump with his obvious ignorance of
politics and of the Constitution, as well as his contempt for issues such as
the freedom of speech, these individuals are just displaying their own
ignorance.
How can these
people even consider attacking Hillary Clinton for dishonesty, when their
candidate continues to offer a string of lies such as his seeing thousands of
American Muslims celebrating the 9/11 attacks, and his claim that the US
unemployment rate was actually 20%, and his false claim that “the federal omnibus spending bill
"funds illegal immigrants coming in and through your border”? And that’s only a few of the over 100 lies
that he has spouted since he began running for president. (Just do a little Googling and you
can easily find the long list of Trump lies.)
If nothing
else, these VP wannabees should be asked how they can support a man they know
is totally unqualified to be the US Commander in Chief.
In fact, all
three of these individuals have criticized the GOP candidate before they were added to the nominee’s short VP
List.
Chris Christie
has criticized Trump for acting “like a
child” and he insisted that Trump is not “suited to be president of the United States.” It has also been reported that Governor Pence
has “privately loathed the presumptive
GOP nominee”. Mr. Gingrich had actually
called Mr. Trump’s attacks on a Hispanic judge for his ethnicity “ totally inexcusable.”
But today, all
three of these conservatives think that Donald Trump is the absolute best
choice to be running for President of the United States, that’s right, they
want that idiot to be our POTUS.
I totally
agree with E.J. Dionne who recently wrote, “Treating
Mr. Trump as a normal candidate is a grave insult to the country’s democratic
tradition. This election year presents an unusually clear moral choice. Not
only are Mr. Trump’s supplicants on the wrong side of history, but they
are also actively and knowingly aiding the candidacy of an unacceptable,
dangerous demagogue for their own personal gain.”
So the
current choices for GOP VP are:
Two US
Republican Governors that have an approval rate in their own state of around
35%, and that could probably not be re-elected as their state’s governors. The third VP candidate is a disgraced ex-Speaker of the House whose political
judgement is as bad as the individual that might be choosing the ex-Speaker as
a running mate.
What a
boondoggle…!!!
Tomorrow
should be interesting, but whomever is chosen will just be another level of devastation
to the Party of Lincoln.
