A WELL KNOWN WRITER SAYS: “TRUMP’S WOES ARE JUST BEGINNING”

As one observer put it: “the flood gates have opened”

 

According to Claudia Grisales at NPR.com The Jan 6^th House Committee will “resume the hearings in September.”  The Committee has been interviewing new witnesses and sifting through emerging evidence.   “The flood gates have opened” said the Committee Member, Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA).  “The Committee may issue an initial report in September,” said the Committee Chair, Bennie Thompson (D-Miss), “followed by a final report later this year.” 

The Committee plans to interview “more Cabinet secretaries,”  said Hope Yen in the Associated Press, with particular interest those thought to have considered invoking the 25^th Amendment to remove Trump from office on and after Jan. 6. 

Witnesses may include former Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos and former Transportation Secretary, Elaine Chao’ who both resigned on Jan. 7^th.  The Committee also wants to interview Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, whose efforts to keep Trump in office included messaging then Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Liz Cheney, Committee Vice Chair said the Committee is “fully prepared to contemplate a subpoena” if Ginn doesn’t voluntary testify.

“Trump’s woes are just beginning,” said Jennifer Rubin in The Washington Post.  In addition to the “bombshell” revelation that the Justice Department is investigating Trump’s “coup attempt,” he also has to worry about the Fulton County, GA., District Attorney’s investigation into his campaign to bully Georgia state officials to change 2020 election results.

To stay out of prison, people like Meadows might already be cooperating with prosecutors and tuning over evidence.  It Trump is feeling “a tad claustrophobic” right now, it because the walls are closing in.”

Let’s just hope that the pressure keeps pressing forward on Trump and his cronies.
