THE GROUP KNOWN AS THE “TRUMP CAUCUS”  IS A DANGER TO DEMOCRACY

…Rep. Jim Jordan is the leader of the so called, “Trump Caucus”.

The former president still claims that the 2020 election was stolen

The following list of House Republicans has become known as the “Trump Caucus”.

Even though there were 139 Republicans that objected in the House of Representatives for ratifying Joe Biden as the legal winner of the 2020 election, there were 197 Republicans who opposed impeaching the same President Trump for insurrection.

And as it turns out, with the former president still claiming, without any proof, that the 2020 election was stolen, due to massive voter fraud, most Republicans in Congress, including some GOP Senators, they are still standing with the former president.

In the Senate, the two senators who led the drive to object to Biden’s victory were Josh Hawley (R-Miss) and Ted Cruz (R-Tx).  They have been unrepentant about their roles in encouraging the mob that attacked the Capitol.

But, here are the seven members of the House Republicans, that are known as the “Trump Caucus” that are still fiercely loyal to Trump:  Loyal to an authoritarian leader.

First there is the Trump Caucus member, Jim Jordan (R-OH)

Jordon is a former national champion wrestler.  Jordan was a vociferous advocate for Trump during his first impeachment in 2019 and he battled for the president again this week

When Trump was impeached for a second time in the House, Jim Jordan, 56, emerged as the president’s number one defender.  He fenced with Democrats in the House Rules Committee and managed the floor debate for the Republicans.

In a nationally televised hearing, Jordan refused to concede any responsibility by Trump for the January 6th riot.  And, under pressure from the Democrats, he would not acknowledge Biden had won the election fairly.

“The gentleman from Ohio and others have given oxygen to the president’s conspiracy theories,” accused Representative Jim McGovern, obviously, a Democrat.

“Those of us who spoke against the unconstitutional way several states conducted their election were following the process,’’ Jordan retorted.

“We did nothing different than Democrats have done every time a Republican has been elected this century,” he said.

On a Monday, after Jordan’s comment in support of President Trump, Trump awarded Jordan the Medal of Freedom, the US’s highest civilian honor. Jordan was elected to Congress in 2006.

Next Trump Caucus member, Louie Gohmert (R-Tx)

Gohmert was a former US army lawyer, and Gohmert has represented a conservative, rural area of Texas since 2005.

On January 13, 2021, he defended Trump against the House’s charge of insurrection.

Louie Gohmert, 67, together with a group of Republicans sought to overturn Biden’s election win in the key battleground state of Arizona with a lawsuit.

Gohmert’s far-fetched idea was to invalidate a century-old US law governing how Congress counts Electoral College votes and give Vice President Mike Pence the authority to throw out the choice of voters. It was tossed out by the courts but Gohmert refused to accept defeat.

Thanks to spineless politicians, corrupt state officials and a coordinated effort to undermine the will of the American people in favor of business as usual in the DC swamp, we now find ourselves in a place where a stolen election becomes just another one of the miscarriages of justice this town refuses to remedy,” Gohmert falsely claimed.

The next Trump Caucus member is Paul Gosar (R-Az)

Representative Paul Gosar promoted the January 6th Trump rally that resulted in the attack on the Capitol.

Gosar, 62, was among several House members who poured fuel on the fire before the Capitol riot with his false conspiracy claims that Trump actually won the 2020 election, but was denied victory because of voter fraud.

“Having failed everywhere else, they brazenly engaged in systematic voter fraud and are trying to steal this election. They did it right in front of us with no shame,” Gosar wrote in a December 7 op-ed titled: Are We Witnessing a Coup d’etat?

A former dentist whose siblings say he “peddles in propaganda”, Gosar tweeted a picture of the crowd assembled for Trump’s speech on January 6 and he called on Biden to concede.

A flaming Trump Caucus member is Mo Brooks (R-Ala)

On January 6, Mo Brooks condemned all ‘socialists’ as ‘weak-kneed Republicans’ who would vote to confirm Biden’s Electoral College win.

Brooks, 66, was the first Republican to say he would object to the certification of Biden’s Electoral College win. He gave a fiery speech to the crowd of Trump supporters at the president’s rally on January 6th.

Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass,” Brooks told the mob before they marched on the Capitol.

Democrats have called for Brooks to be censured or expelled for supporting: “Trump’s baseless and dangerous election theft claims”.  Of course, that won’t happen.

A lying Trump Caucus member is Matt Gaetz (R-Fl)

The son of a politician, Gaetz was elected to the US Congress in 2016, and he campaigned for Trump in Ocala, Florida, on October 16.

After pro-Trump supporters stormed the Capitol and temporarily disrupted Congress’s count of the Electoral College votes for Biden, Matt Gaetz, 38, tried to shift blame for the riots.

In remarks on the House floor, he claimed facial recognition data showed people who breached the Capitol were not Trump supporters.  Of course, as usual, he offered no proof of his statement.

“They were masquerading as Trump supporters and in fact, were members of the violent terrorist group Antifa,” Gaetz said.

And he accused Democrats and the media of stoking a climate of violence.

“Before the rioters tore through that glass, Speaker Pelosi stood at that rostrum and tore through the president’s State of the Union speech, inciting anger, resentment, division,” he said.

Another lying member of the Trump Caucus is Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga)

Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene wore a ‘Trump Won’ face mask to take her oath of office as a newly elected member of the 117th Congress on January 3rd.

Taylor Greene, 46, is a freshman member of Congress from Georgia who has endorsed QAnon conspiracy theories and posted a picture of herself on Facebook with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

Her incendiary rhetoric in a nationally televised House floor speech defending Trump from impeachment prompted a Democratic legislator, in a CNN interview, to rightly call her and her Republican colleagues “depraved” and “dangerous”.

Greene has announced she will introduce articles of impeachment against “Quid pro-Joe Biden” when Congress returns next week. But with Democrats in control of the House and being there is no evidence that Biden did anything wrong the move is purely a political stunt by Greene.

The final liar of the Trump Caucus is Lauren Boebert (R-Colo)

Lauren Boebert, 34, is a newly elected member of the House from Colorado and avid gun rights advocate. She objected to certifying the Electoral College votes for Biden from Arizona and repeated those debunked fraud claims in remarks to the House.

The members who stand here today and accept the results of this concentrated, coordinated, partisan effort by Democrats, where every fraudulent vote cancelled out the vote of an honest American, have sided with the extremist left,” Boebert falsely stated as pro-Trump supporters marched on the Capitol.

The “Trump Caucus”:

All of the Trump Caucus has only proven just how committed the former Republican Party, now the Trump Party, is to going against the United States being a democratic nation.  They would obviously prefer an authoritarian leader, such as Russia’s Vladimir Putin, one off Trump’s heroes.

The Trump Caucus is 100% in support of all of Trump’s false claims of voter fraud.  This a false claim against what the evidence has shown, was probably the most secure election in the history of this nation.

It is unknown what this disruption of our democracy will eventually evolve to.  Will it convince enough uninformed American voters to once again elect the former U.S. president?  It is possible, based on what the former Republican Party is doing to mess our future elections, that we will no longer have a democratic nation?  Even today, the United States is not known as the leading democratic nation in the world.  The U.S. has been referred to as a nation that is in “democratic backsliding”.

“Democratization”, the term for democratic backsliding, began in the mid-1970s, and transformed the existing formal political structures in much of the developing world.  Only a limited number of countries that have undergone transitions to a real democracy and that have succeeded in establishing consolidated and functioning democratic regimes.  For the first time since 2001, there are now more autocracies than democracies in the world, and as a result, the "third wave of autocratization" is accelerating and deepening.  In addition, apart from the transition to autocratization, democratic backsliding may also lead to authoritarian regressions, to revolutions, to hybrid regimes as they enter into political "gray zones".

The nation must therefore, change the way it is headed today to avoid our losing our long-time democracy.  Those states where they are trying to install those individual that will go against the actual decisions of Americas true voters.  We must be against the lies that individuals such as the former president that just wants to maintain his hold on the power, “no matter what it takes.”

It is up to us.
