TED CRUZ KNOWS THAT POLITICS IS THEATER, YET HE IS CONFUSED ABOUT HIS TRIP TO CANCUN
…Yes, Ted Cruz is once again on an island by
himself
It is true that few Senate colleagues approve of
Senator Cruz
Ted Cruz says that usually, “People get mad if I show up because they hate me. That’s why I’m confused because of my trip to Cancun. I was just doing what I thought made sense. Based on my entire life’s experience of how people respond to my being somewhere, which is to say: They get mad that I am there and say they want me to leave.”
I was surprised when I heard that the Texas senator said that, because of his always trying to be at the head of the class. No matter the subject matter.
It is true that even his own Senate colleagues don’t much like Senator Cruz.
As proof, a former senate colleague once said: “I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz,”
His Republican senate colleague, former Speaker of the House, John Boehner once called him: “Lucifer in the flesh.”
And another GOP Senator, Lindsey Graham said of Cruz, “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”
So, when Texas was devastated by a Winter
storm, and when millions of Texans remained without power, Ted Cruz was
hearing that his decision to go to Cancun was upsetting some people.
He was very confused because “they are usually mad because I am there and they want me to leave.”
“There is a long-running joke that I am the Zodiac Killer, which is not something that is usually said about people who are universally liked. My college roommate once wrote: “Ted Cruz is a nightmare of a human being. I have plenty of problems with his politics, but truthfully his personality is so awful that 99%t of why I hate him is just his personality. If he agreed with me on every issue, I would hate him only 1 percent less.”
Ted has said: “Flowers wither at my approach; the sun shrouds itself in shadow; no matter what haircut I have, people agree that it is wrong. And I think this time, it really is wrong!”
The point is that at least Ted Cruz, the ass that he is, is aware of how he is considered by his colleagues on both sides of the politics.
Seeing Texas in crisis, Cruz’s reasoning was apparently that the last thing anyone would want would be, for him to show up. He appeared to assume that the only thing that could make everyone’s experience to be worse, would be the addition of Ted Cruz. “Did he assume that these Texans, with their power being out, and they were in the process of breaking up their furniture to burn it… and then Ted Cruz showed up” That third thing would be the thing that caused people to freak out!.
Apparently, that is so.
Never in Ted’s life has someone said, “What a relief! Ted Cruz is here! Now things are looking up!” His presence has the effect of extinguishing the last small bit of hope that people were aware that they even still had. Considering this, Ted would probably have concluded that if you were already struggling, his arrival would definitely not help things along.
So Ted Cruz would simply think it would be best for all those involved, if he made certain he was somewhere else, where he would not bother the people of Texas by consuming any resources meant for them. Let’s face it. People always hate hearing that resources have gone to support someone like Ted Cruz. Cancun probably seemed pretty far away, and his family happened to already be planning a trip there, so he just thought he’d accompany them.
It was a new experience for Ted to see people upset that he was NOT there. Rather than being simply upset that he was there. Indeed, seeing people roundly denouncing him for going away from them during their time of trial has been… both confusing and bittersweet. It really sounded like that they wished he was there, but that can’t be it, can it? Ted knows that can’t be it.
Obviously,
if they are about to change the habit of a lifetime and are going to be angry
that Ted is absent, instead of being present, Ted would be excited about
it!
And he would probably say: “I will never leave your side again.”
Nuff said.
