SOME TRUMP SUPPORTERS THINK OF HIM AS A “GOD LIKE FIGURE”

…This Mike Lee and his picture of President Reagan riding a dinosaur.

Some Christians consider Trump as a modern-day Cyrus, a biblical pagan leader chosen by God.

I think I’ve figured out why regardless of all the daily lies coming out of our president, he still holds on to a job approval of 40+%.  Still low, but it remains very consistent.

The reason seems clear that more and more of Trump’s supporters compare Donald Trump to God-like figures..

No, I’m not kidding….and here’s my proof:

  • The Rev. Franklin Graham has placed Trump alongside the biblical: Abraham, Moses and the apostles.  Arriving at the that conclusion, a group calling itself “Make the Gospel Great Again” put up a St. Louis billboard that portrayed Trump as Jesus.
  • Just last week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, on his trip to the Holy Land during the Jewish holiday of Purim, he offered his view that God anointed Trump as a modern-day Queen Esther, the Purim heroine from the biblical Book of Esther.  The Christian Broadcasting Network asked Pompeo: “Could it be that President Trump right now has been sort of raised for such a time as this, just like Queen Esther, to help save the Jewish people from the Iranian menace?  As a Christian, I certainly believe that’s possible,” replied Pompeo.  So, Trump is both a Queen Esther and a part of King David’s vision. Trump's cup does obviously runneth over.
  • Now Trump would probably not approve of the Esther comparison.  That’s because he was mightily displeased when a woman, Melissa McCarthy, portrayed his then-press secretary, Sean Spicer, on Saturday Night Live.”  Trump would definitely not like being a “Queen”, even a noble one.
  • Earlier this year, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders pronounced that God “wanted Donald Trump to become president, and that’s why he’s here.” She appeared to be referring to a belief among some evangelical Christians that Trump is a modern-day Cyrus, a biblical pagan leader chosen by God.
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had put Trump in the “Cyrus Category”, saying both men “will be remembered by our people through the ages.”
  • Just this week, the Utah Republican, Mike Lee, gave a speech on the Senate floor showing a caricature of President Ronald Reagan riding a dinosaur and holding an AK47.  (This was supposed to be a depiction of Reagan during the Cold War with the USSR.) If a Utah Republican can offer this on the floor of our Senate, let’s not rule out any holy comparisons for President Trump.
  • David Friedman, the US ambassador to Israel, declared to a gathering that Trump is the answer to the biblical King David’s prayer. “The great psalmist sought God’s intervention so that we see the holiness, the beauty, the sanctity of life, and yes, the good in Jerusalem. Friedman also told the gathering: “I’d like to think that God has blessed the Trump administration in this very manner.”
  • A well know Op-Ed writer I will not identify wrote the following about the president: “Trump’s effort to increase oil production surely make him a modern-day Judah Maccabee, whose one-day supply of oil burned for eight days. The ‘endless presidential harassment from illegal hoax witch-hunts that left Trump totally exonerated’ makes him a modern-day Job. Trump’s lavish mane naturally brings to mind, Samson.  Trump may be Abraham, Moses and Jesus all rolled into one, but God knows he’d make a lousy Esther.”
  • The Atlantic’s McKay Coppins notes that: “Mike Pence has been compared to “Daniel”, who served a number of pagan rulers, and to “Joseph of Egypt”, the servant of God who won the favor of a pharaoh known for throwing servants in prison when they offended him.  Pence also has been compared to “Mordechai”, “who became the servant of a Persian king know for turning out his wife when she refused to appear naked in front of his friends.”
Donald J. Trump, who made “Stormy Daniels” a household name and “grab ’em by the p----” a virtual household phrase, for Trump to merit such comparisons just shows that these days, nothing is too far-fetched.

Therefore, to recap, according to some supporters, Trump is: Esther, Cyrus, David, Abraham, Moses, the apostles and Jesus.

No wonder the president gets so irritable when people challenge his authority.
