PRESIDENT TRUMP WASTES MORE TAX-PAYER MONEY ON A FAKE COMMITTEE

…William Happer, the scientist that rejects the idea of climate change

Even China, the world’s largest producer of carbon emissions is reducing its use of coal and building more solar farms.

To demonstrate just how ignorant our president is, the president has repeatedly dismissed climate change, which he suggests is a "Chinese hoax".

To put Trump’s misplaced ideas out there, he is now working with our tax-payers money to assemble a Presidential Committee on Climate Security headed by a so-called scientist, William Happer.

Mr. Happer is a senior director for the National Security Council and former physics professor at Princeton University.  Happer rejects mainstream climate science and he has claimed a rise in carbon emissions should be viewed as an asset, rather than a problem.

Happer is a climate change denier who once compared the world's negative attitude toward carbon dioxide in the environment, to the treatment of the Jews in Nazi Germany.  Yes, he actually said that making carbon dioxide into nature’s “demon”, is as bad as treating carbon like the German Holocaust.

In a 2014, Happer drew parallels between climate change articles and news, and the Nazi propaganda in Germany during WWII.

Happer is set to lead a White House panel assessing whether global warming poses a threat to US national security.  This is Trump’s attempt to counter the 22-page assessment delivered to Congress by the US Pentagon about two-thirds of 79 mission-essential military installations in the US that are vulnerable to current or future flooding.  The study says that more than half of the installations are vulnerable to current or future drought.  About half of the locations are at risk from raging wildfires, including the threat of mudslides and erosion from the heavy rains following those fires.

David Titley, professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University, has stated that Mr. Happer "would be a fringe figure, even for all climate change sceptics."

To show the real effects of climate change to date, The Independent News has published 20 graphic pictures that demonstrate how consequential climate change has been around the world, and it’s very hard to not accept that it’s for real.

Mr. Happer’s proposed role came to light in a leaked “discussion paper” in which federal officials asked government agencies to weigh in on plans to establish the anti-climate change committee through a Trump executive order.

The memo says that any questions should be directed to Mr. Happer who was appointed as a senior director for emerging technologies on the National Security Council last year.

The 79-year-old's proposed appointment to lead a panel on global warming has been met with serious dismay among real climate scientists.

Kim Cobb, professor in School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology, said Happer’s “false, unscientific notions about climate change represent a danger to all Americans”.

Cobb’s colleague, Michael Mann, director of the university's Earth System Science Centre, said: “As a Jew I'm deeply offended by his exploitation of the Holocaust as he shills for fossil fuel interests. Happer shouldn't be in charge of a local book club let alone a presidential panel on national security.”

According to the discussion paper, the National Security Council would fund and oversee the committee, which would be asked to "address existing United States Government reports on climate for scientific accuracy and advise on the national security implications of climate change”.

The panel of 12 national security and climate "experts" would advise Mr. Trump on how the climate "might change in the future under natural and human influences”.

It appears obvious that the establishment of the panel under Mr. Happer's watch will be seen as attempt by President Trump to cast doubt on the findings of federal agencies that believe that climate change is real.  The agencies have warned about the threat of climate change, and for years government scientists and military leaders have repeatedly highlighted global warning as a major national security risk.

The president obviously made this decision after the Pentagon report said nearly half of US military sites worldwide were at risk from extreme weather linked to climate change.  Even President Trump's own intelligence team, which he doesn’t respect, has cited global warning as a national security threat.

Last month, in an apparent fundamental misunderstanding of science, the president suggested cold weather in the US was evidence that global warming was not happening.

The president calls “climate change a Chinese hoax”, even though China has joined the Paris Climate Accord and they have agreed to reduce their carbon emissions significantly by 2030.

Once again, the president has shown his ignorance that he doesn’t know the difference between “climate” and “weather”.
